Might be a bit premature, but here's the deal.
When we moved to Wales a couple of years ago, I started a job with BT which sent me away for 6 weeks training. The missus was far from pleased at this, and I promised I wouldn't do anything similar again.

Now - my missus wants to move back to South Yorkshire to be closer to family. I have a job interview on Tuesday over there, but they will probably want me to start on Thursday which will mean being away from the lass for a couple of weeks until we can move house.

So - do I take the job (good money) and really upset the missus or tell them I won't be able to start for a couple of weeks and probably lose it as they need someone ASAP.

personaly, i'd discuss it first with the mrs, but i'd explain that due to you earning more and her wanting to move back to s yorks, then it would be beneficial to be apart for a short space of time while you both move. i'd also tell her that due to the economic climate, good jobs are hard to come by and that if you let this one go then you might not find another. good luck.

I would discus with the Mrs also.
If its good money then a few weeks away wont matter to be honest.
Good luck Thumbs Up

If she's the one wanting to move back, a few weeks of having you working away is a small price to pay.

Can she really not survive without you for 2 weeks, find it unlikely. Just piss her off the day before you go and you both win.

My wife doesnt like me riding my bike today as she really wants to visit Ikea with me in tow and buy some more tat for the house.
Now I am only going out for a quick morning hoon - but she says that we wont have time this afternoon as my son has a freind coming over.
My dilema is - and where I need the advice of random people from the internet - do I:
1) ride my bike for the first time this week and enjoy what I bought it for, thus upsetting the wife to the point where she will moan at me for the next 2 days.
2) or do I forget the bike and spend our small change on cr*p from Ikea.
I really dont want to upset the wife as I do love her so much - but I hate Ikea and love riding my bike.

I understand that this section of the forum is to ask for advice - but its slightly confusing to me why someone would ask about something so pathetically small.
2 weeks ?
A better paid job or upset your partner ?
Is that it ?

If she gets upset at you seeking a well paid job in the area that SHE wants to live - then live with it.
It actually sounds like the sort of thing that used to concern me when I was 16 and had a new girlfriend of 2 weeks Rolling Eyes
Why would you ask for advice on this ?

This section is well used by people who have genuine concerns that possibly require the advice of others.
ie: Legal action at work, redundancy questions, health issues etc.

Man alive, sew up your mangina. Two weeks away from her sounds like bliss. Do it.

For extra cool points, when you're setting off for your new job, tell her that you'll have business trips in Amsterdam about once every 4 weeks. You can use this opportunity to see your mistress on a regular basis.

Pictures and address I'm sure some of the BCF population will keep her entertained for your 2 weeks absence. Wink

Two weeks in comparison to the rest of your lives?

I don't really think you have a choice do you? Take the job, tell her to be grateful you aren't joining the army. Thumbs Up Some people have to take jobs that mean they are away from their families Monday to Friday, it's fairly normal. You're lucky to have got a job so quickly.
