No more talk of newbie or not (lets all just peace out and hug man Karma ) .

Anyway my thought was what do driving intructors and people that view there bikes as such get out of riding? That may sound silly but going at respectable speeds, respectable leaning, calm breaking and smooth acceleration. Doesn't that all sound a bit boring? Or is it just a calm facade, when they get round the corner from the driving school they jump off their PanEuropean and on to a shiny R1? I think not but would be cool.

Jan

p.s. no offence to pan europeans there very reliable Thumbs Up

A riding instructor i once learned under was (as a tutor) a bit of a wanker, but a good rider and (i suspect) a nice guy when on his own. I once razzed up to the local bike training school to see him razzing round on a dude's ZZR400 at about 70/80 in a car park, with no lid.

Double standards? hell no, instructors are human beings and good lads Smile.

Rideing "fast" can be done safely, police riders are extremely rapid, they dont take risks they dont lean at 80degree angles arround corners, all of which is done on the lardyest touring bikes tax money can provide...
My instructor teaches police riders, rides a duvalle and makes some inexperienced riders on Dukes,R1s and the like feel quite silly...

When I was doing my CBT the second time (after the first ran out) while we were waiting to go in the car park the instructor said 'wait a minute' after he'd talked to one of the others about some wheelie technique.

He then wheelies his BMW F650 the length of the car park, came back and we continued the lesson.

He wanted to be a police motorcyclist as well Thumbs Up .

My instructor was a police biker. One morning before a lesson he was telling me he was worried that he might have got caught speeding in a national zone while overtaking traffic. He thinks he got away with it though as he was overtaking a lorry at the time he went through the trap. Apparently if an instructor gets any points then they are banned from being an instructor for a year.

Then the other instructor was telling me he was out on the new R1the previous night. He said it wouldn't even let him ride at the speed limit. Twisted Evil

My CBT instructor spent the time while we were waiting for the other people to arrive telling us about why he had a sore hand that day.

Some cager had cut him up the night before so he's ridden alongside, punched the guy through the open window then buggered off popping a massive wheelie on his pink speed triple. Then it was 9am so it was 'gather round kiddies and let's talk about safety on mopeds'. Very Happy

Hi

A lot depends on what people want from a bike, same with every other experience going. Some want the performance and the thrill, some find riding smoothly to be the skill they get pleasure from.

All the best

Guys looks as if you have picked up on speeding bike cops. There was a documentory following 3 bike cops being trained.

They filmed them having their exam and one of them gets told he was clocked doing 40 in a 30 twice. He failed the exam, I bet he did not get any points on his licence though.

You wouldn't get any points if you did 40 in a 30 zone on your bike test either.

Happy? Razz

I'm a learner, and generally I've noted that most people don't stick to the speed limits, they seem to be a reccomended minimum. I know legally your suppossed to be below but nobody else seems to be doing it. Should I?
