I've seen a Z750 for sale, 2006 with 10k on the clock and its up for £3145. Is that too much?

I'm looking for something along those lines basically but I really like this one because it's Orange Laughing

In my opinon £2,500 - £3000 would be the price considering mileage and age etc.

Plus you have to get it restricted ( which is about £150 on top) , dont you?

Wouldn't a tuono etc be too much for me?

and yes it needs to and will be restricted Wink

Too much in what sense?

If you want to stick to middle weights, you can get hornet's bandit's, SV, GSR, fazer etc. for less similar money and less insurance.

Personally I feel there are better bikes in that sector, but it is your choice. Thumbs Up

ideally you need to find a bike with the restrictors already in place in my view.

Just buy any bike and mod the throttle stop. It's much cheaper and easier than waiting for a ready restricted one or buying washers. Wink

The problem i'm having is that the cheaper bikes have higher insurance and the lower insurance bikes are more expensive to buy.

For Example here a few:

Hornet 600 all years costs around £1500 to £2500 - TPO £800
SV 650 Pointy £2500+ - TPO £400
Speed Four £3000+ - TPO £400
Z750 £3145 - TPO £400
Ducati Monster M620 £2500 - TPO £800

These were rough quotes I got from Bikeinsurer and the prices of the bikes are what I've seen available near me. I've gone TPO because TPFT goes into the thousands as in 1k+

Parking on the road by any chance?

My speed four and my three other bikes (including my chav magnet Pampera) cost me £250 fc for a year. Smile

Bugger all, Z750's are crap. Ride magazine rated it the worse handling bike out there. In the same issue they voted the Speed for the best. Get an S4 they come in orange. I paid £3000 for a 6 month old S4 with 3200 miles 2 and a half years ago.

Considered tootling about on a GPz500? They are dirt cheap to buy and insure. Plus old and popular enough to improve their appearance cosmetically quite easily, if you wish (apart from the bicycle wheels)

I got quoted 390Fully Comp UNGARAGED for one "worth" £1800. And I'm only 21 with less than a year on a 125.
That is almost half the quote than what I paid for my TT.

You could pick one up in decent nick for ~£1000.

Worth giving it a shot, plus if you don't like it, it shouldn't be too hard to sell.

Tesco insurance bike comparison (!) Thats the way forard in my eyes...went from renewal on sv650...2yr no claims and parked off road, £450 from MCD with a £650 excess...no cover for other bikes or owt...

to £400 with helmet cover, legal cover, cover to ride other bikes, cover to ride in europe, and a £200 excess
That was with Adrian Flux/Bikesure/NIG Insurance Thumbs Up

If you're actually going to be riding it restricted, why not just get a cheap early SV650 for the moment... or is this a styling issue?

£1000 to buy, insurance should be cheaper and you'll worry less about it being TPO as well as doing damage/getting it dirty etc by riding it.

I did my DAS on a GS500 with renthals plonked on it and it was actually really good fun, not as pretty as a Z750 but much more durable and with those restricters in, likely every bit as quick.

I might go and see some bikes today to try and narrow it down a bit. But I have to say 3k is a bit much so I might have to rule out the Z maybe.

As for insurance they do ring me back to give a cheaper quote but I haven't bothered because i'm still at the looking around stage. Laughing

Yeahh but a year ago Superbike were giving in 90% reviews and it still is the biggest selling bike in France. (Right on the maximum bhp for France)

Its not the handling really its fine on smooth tarmac.

The problem being on rougher surfaces. It needs about £300 spending on a replacement shock. Some people fit a ZX6R shock from ebay, others like me just by a Hagon or Ohlins.

Just been to see an 04 SV with 5k on the clock. It's going for just over 2k and I really like it. To top it off it's from the same guy I bought the CBR so he's going to do me a good deal if I buy it Very Happy

But I'll have to sort some other stuff out first and see what happens, I hope it will still be there Mad
