Did anyone watch the Evel Knievel documentary on Channel 5 the other night, very entertaining. The man used to try and jump buses on a Harley! Shocked

In fact do any of you even know who he is? Wink

The man's a god... and a complete headcase!!
How he's still alive I'll never know!

I had one of those Evel Knievel bikes that you put on the gizmo and wound up and it did stunts.

I used to have one of those windup stunt cycles too, I just looked at them on Ebay. £107 current bidding with 1 day to go, another one's at £90 odd. Wish I still had mine now!

That's the problem with toys - give them to a kid and they'll love 'em + wreck 'em. Keep them on a shelf and they'll be worth money. But then what's the point of toys if you can't play with them?! Question

You must be the same generation as me then I guess? Early 30's?

Yeah, but did you see the state of Eddie Kidd? Sounded like he'd had a skinful! I felt quite sorry for him.

Strickly speaking he didn't actually jump the canyon. Apparently he appeared to release his parachute too early and ended up floating to the bottom norrowly missing the river (which could, paradoxically, have killed him).

But agreed, one of kind! Thumbs Up

The Harley XR750's are actually fairly decent bikes, well compared to most harleys anyway.

Think they use the engines for hill climbs, running methanol... can get around 190hp from it I think.

Evel's son Robbie has jumped the Grand Canyon & succeeded.

Broke a rib or 2 in the process & the original jump had to be postponed due to high winds & snow. Shocked

Re-scheduled the jump to about a month later & even though there was a bit of a sideways draft he managed to land it then fell off. Wink

I also had one of those windup toys! 29 years old & remember it like yesterday. Neutral
