I've you're asking if it's a no no, well I'm 99% sure wearing both ear plugs is illegal.. I've never bothered tho. I like to hear what's going on and love the sound of the engine.
Last year I rode from Hull to Le Mans on an R6. Left the ferry at Zeebrugge and did a 7 and a half hour ride there. didn't wish I had a radio once.. vrooooom ____________________ Setting Sail on Concrete Waves

After loosing my earplugs ive been riding everywhere with headphones in and i just want to point out that headphones are no replacement for earplugs in terms of noise reduction, after a recent trip from london to loughborough uni and back i had a ringing noise in my ears for a day or two, not nice! That was with headphones by the way, most of that was with ~90mph winds so that probably doesnt help, it hasnt developed into that ear problem thingy where you get the permenent ringing (tittinus or tinnitus or whatever it is) but ive heard its not nice and i wouldnt want that ringing to become a permenent thing so i will be going and buying some more ear plugs soon
Just thought i'd share the other side of the story, oh and its not down to choice of headphones, these are in ear ones that wern't particularly cheap.

I have one of these and I listen to the radio pretty much every day on it. Because the speaker pads don't go inside the ear like earphones, I can still hear a fair bit of traffic noise.
Edit: That ringing you hear after being exposed to high sound pressure levels is actually hair cells in the cochlea dyeing. They don't regenerate and you can't undo the damage. Do it too much and then you get tinnitus. You might also notice everything being a bit muffled when you get off the bike. That's an effect called Temporary Threshold Shift and its the muscles in your ear tensioning up to in effect dampen the three bones in your ear which form a natural amplifier. They eventually return to normal but if you regularly batter your ears they can stay tense and the condition can become permanent. ____________________ CBT February 2008 | A2 June 2008 | Yamaha YBR125 (written off) | Honda CBF125 (current) |

Are these helmet speakers any good? I was thinking of buying them. I listen to my mp3 player every time im on the bike but it's a bit of a pain when you put your helmet on and one for your earphones falls out |

I had helmet speakers in - Velcro in - wires can be a nightmare so you need to find a way to tuck them under the padding.
There not bad. Tiny bit more comfortable - but people with long hair need to take care - Mine would get caught, rip and then in the end would just removed the velcro - So im back to earphones |

used my phone mp3 player today, had it on 6 which was loud enough to hear but still hear everything going on around me...made the ride alot more fun, did 85odd miles today just plodding around southend way, some lovely country roads but they all have works going on so got them shitty temp traffic lights
in an entirely coincidental case i almost came off today, was coming down a hill and the car stopped in front of me, pressed my foot down on the brake and the back slid about a foot to the left, luckily it stopped before it was too late, i guessed it rained there more than anywhere else or somthing lol ____________________ CBT PASSED 18/01/09 THEORY PASSED 14/04/09 DAS PASSED 17/04/09 3 minors wet test.
