Me and the lady are having a pretty intense film marathon recently.
This weekend our plans were ruined for going to London so it was Sailor jerry and coke, wine, food and films.

So far we've watched some craking films.
I've seen these already but Liz hasn't, she's been treated to...

Total Recall
The Running Man
Rocky 1,2,3 (i have all 6)

We have Commando to watch, the rest of Rocky and all the Robocops.
And before you ask she as seen mos of the classics...predator 1,2...T1,T2,T3...Alien stuff etc.

Can i just recommend if you havent seen them already...

The lives of others (very moving film)
Amores perros ('loves a bitch')

If you've seen something brilliant recently, let me know.

Oh and this is the truth. Teeth, is the worst film i've ever seen. Im sure of it.
Thumbs Down X 10

Two good albeit slightly "moody" ones:

* Children of Men (Clive Owen/Michael Caine)
* Wild at Heart (Nicolas Cage/Laura Dern/Isabella Rossellini/Willem Dafoe) (NB: this is a David Lynch, so weirdness is fairly standard protocol)

Also:
I have yet to see a Tarantino film that doesn't have some element of "cool". I've just watched the Kill Bills this weekend Cool Thumbs Up

I saw Apocalypto again recently, a great film imo.

Shaolin soccer was another film I loved.

Also waiting for the new Star Trek Embarassed . Hoping it will be as good as it could be. Hopefully it will be like what Batman Begins was to the previous films.

Sometime I intend to watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy; can't seem to find the time to do it though.

Not usually a fan of horror, spoof or not, but those two were very good (and not American, oddly enough.)

Fairly recently, I've liked:
From the title, I immediately thought 'Get Smart' (new film out, great whether or not you watched the original series.)
There's a prelude/pilot style film of this as well with less famous people in.

Children of Men gets a definite Thumbs Up from me too.

Southland tales makes you think about what's going on a reasonable amount, but also good.

Also Wanted and Taken. Still get them confused as watched on the same day and have similar names.

On the 'Matrix' theme, I also re-watched 'Dark City' recently - the Matrix, before the Matrix and better, though less 'pop'.

Also 'In Bruges' and (a bit older) 'Screamers' I've also watched recently and liked. Always liked screamers, but maybe good they didn't make a sequel... <slightly pathetic kids voice>"Can I come with you?"

Definitely, though most people who hadn't read the book didn't seem to 'get it'. It's a very good adaptation of the book, in comparison to some of the pap out there; the book offers a few more insights into what's going on.

A (very cheap) film with some similar themes is 'bug'; an interesting watch, though not that action packed.

Seems to be $4m, making a gross revenue of $8m. Didn't expect it'd cost that much, though I suppose that's not much at all for a film.

For a remarkably good very low budget film ($7k!), Primer is worth a watch.
