Anyone recommend some high-traffic web hosting?

Quick question -

I need lots of space with lots of bandwidth. I have a 100MB site with lots of streaming video.

Currently with resellerspanel, who offer:
2500 GB Disk Space
25000 GB Traffic
30 Domains

Last year paid £44, now being asked for £74 to continue! I think the difference in the dollar is to blame. Or have all hosting prices gone up?

Personally I'd say £74/year is quite reasonable (is your traffic quota monthly?) considering your transfer.
The shared-hosting arm of my place wouldn't do it for that little cash.

I agree that £74 a year is pretty reasonable. I imagine you would be able to find it for less if you dig around, but if your current host is reliable then I wouldn't go the hassle of switching just to save a few quid.

Out of curiosity, and trying to figure out how their business-model works, I can only assume they've got a massive economy of scale going on, and/or they're not expecting anyone to get near their bandwidth levels.

25TB a month is just under 78 megabit/second. At standard end-user colo prices (mebbe £30/meg, according to one of our salesdudes) based on that data-rate you're looking at about £2300 for bandwidth alone. A month.

I could work out min/max 95th percentile rates for what you'd normally pay on colocation billing schemes, but I can't be bothered.

They'll be over-selling in a big way, just as all budget web hosts do. The OP states he's using 100mb of his 2.5gb allocation and most of their customers will be in the same boat.

Godaddy have some reasonable plans, I've got a few sites with them at the minute (all in development) and they are pretty good from a service point of view.

There's also loads of discount codes available on the net so you can save a bit more.

@ TheJackal: I just looked at godaddy... why are they so cheap? Is there a catch? Do they have servers in the UK or only US?

I think they're mostly (if not completely) US based, however they are one of the largest in the US.

If you're not that bothered about hosting the sites over there it's worth the cash and I've never really noticed any lag or performance issues while I've been testing my sites.
