Looking for some sort of camera to strap to my bike / helmet and record some hooning, but I've no idea where to start looking. My budget is as little as possible, but I want some decent footage (I've seen some crap stuff around). Anyone got one, or used one? Any recommendations or 'stay away from this one!' comments would be much appreciated.

Cheers Thumbs Up

Yeh after making this thread, I read your thread about that camera - I didn't view the footage but it sounds good.

Any other suggestions?

I like the Archos 405 + Archos camera combination.
The camera it's self isn't quite as good quality as it could be, but is better than others.
This is an example of some footage: https://blip.tv/file/975036 (Click download original, I forget if it was re-compressed after initial filming).

There are a few possible solutions for HD recording now, something like a NV24HD (compact digi camera that does 720p) could be interesting.
Not as an on-bike camera, but this footage was taken with one: https://blip.tv/file/1529061

See here for a comparison of a few of the all-in-one devices: https://helmetcamreview.wordpress.com/2008/11/04/review-number-two2/ - I'm not sure how accurate it is, but should give you an idea.

ATC2ks are worthwhile if you take a punt on a used one for £40. I lent mine to my housemate when he went snowboarding and he got good results. You can check out my videos on my youtube that I did with the ATC2K. It's indifferent but half the price than the go-pro hero cam... I'd say get that if you can extend your budget.

I'm pretty happy with this from maplin. The camera on the main unit is a bit pants tbh but the bullet cam quality is much better. Got mine for just under £100 but they seem to have gone up a bit now.
