Bollocks, on my way back from a two hour, stupid O clock in the morning ride, cruising up a 3 lane road coming out of town and theres a flash. I go past the camera every day, but usually in traffic, so it doesnt tend to register, as speed isn't usually an issue. But being in the middle of a massive 3 lane road with no cars for miles the perception of speed this morning was different, plus my speedo light isn't working.

No idea what the speed was, I'd say between 35 and 45, in a 30 limit (at 10 past 5)

Thing is, I'm dead poor, but recieve student money in about 10 weeks, so it would be beneficial for me to keep as much money this term as possible, even if it means paying more later, within reason. I'm not looking to squeeze my way out of it, my own stupid fault for being innatentive. But I know there are ways of putting it off, and wondered if anyone had a good idea of the timescales for that, as well as any official options for deferring the fine.

Cheers

Wait until you get the fine through the post before you decide how to pay. Wink

You won't be able to defer it or pay in installments unless to take it to court, then the fine will be larger as you will have court costs to pay on top. You have 28 days to pay it when you receive the notice.

+1 for above.

I had one, called on the 27th day or something, and they charged me the wrong amount (i told them the wrong amount Wink) they realised, it takes them 4 days to refund then they will send out another notice for 28 days.
The do the form thing. 10 weeks isnt long.

Handy, and kittykat, I wasn't neccasarially talking about official ways of deferring the payment Wink

I've heard things about requesting the pics as proof, any idea how long that one takes?

Hi

You cant request the pictures as proof. If it went to court they they send you them.
However if someone was not sure who the rider/driver was at the time then they could ask for a photo or a description to help identify them

You may well be asked to provide the names of the possible riders so they would need to have insurance to ride the bike that got flashed.
It will be easier to get saving. Fighting will take time and money which Im not sure you have.
If it does go to court you can pay in installments.
if you want more info try pepipoo

Regards
C

20 seconds, you can go online and look at the pics.

Bear in mind this confirms that you have received the letter so you can't pull the lost in the post trick. Wink

You never know you may get let off.
I got caught doing 38 in a 30 just after Christmas, and was expecting 3 points and a fine, no question. I got offered the speed awareness workshop instead, guessing as the speed was low end and it was my first offence. I have that in a couple of weeks.

Send out positive vibes... maybe the speed camera was faulty, maybe an obese bee flew in front of the lens just as it took the snap and obscured half your number plate, maybe.... something else

I was riding through deep snow on dartmoor at the weekend, so the plate might of been dirty Thinking never helps to plan for the worst though.

How much was the speed awareness course?

Oh and Chris is right, budget allows for 9 quid a week till the end of term. Time to get an income.

Your pretty close they do the speed awareness down in devon and the surrounding area, I did mine in taunton and it cost the same cost as the speeding ticket so was a no brainer really, 60 fine and take 3 points or 60 fine and no points Wink

Firstly, you may not get a ticket.

Secondly, you can ignore it for months. I ignored mine for a year until i had a court notice. They made me pay the fine and then the court fees.

Thirdly, do not speed you dick. (That was for being a dick in the BCF chat room) Wink

Four in the morning, non residential, 3 lane road. Meh, I knew the camera was there so I really can't complain Smile

Anyway, what happens if the letter does actually get lost in the post, I talked to my mum yesterday who said she'd sent my post down on thursday NON RECORDED Evil or Very Mad I'm really pretty annoyed about that, I've been asking her for weeks, and left her a tenner at christmas to cover postage of stuff throughout term, so it seems a bunch of letters, including possibly sorn reminders for my 3 registered but non taxed bikes, money for my christmas present, and an NIP might be lost.

BEst not tell them that!

You'll only get a bum raping from the DVLA for not notifying them of a change of address.

Think it's a fine up to £1,000. If my mum gets post for me from the DVLA, she automatically opens it as the eenvelopestell you it's from them.

NIP's will be different as they are from the police authority the camera is in but still get sent to the registered keeper of the vehicle.

I think it's allowed with student houses, cos I can get mail forwarded from home when I'm here, but when I'm back home (for 4 months) I can't get it forwarded from my student house, so it'd mean changing address twice a year, on me liscence and four V5s, fuck that.

Mail through today, and no NIP, but the mother is on holiday since last saturday till next. Ho hum.
