My trusty german para boots are losing their soul. I mean sole.
I don't want to take them to a cobbler's as I can't be without them.
What's the best way to stick the buggers back on? I tried super glue a while ago but that failed. Tried a staple gun but that hasn't lasted long (well, obviously).
Any tips? I fear they will fly off with the next rough gear change!! ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS

No more nails , the outdoor variety, I cleaned out as good as I could the inner bit that wasn't attached pumped it full of no more nails and put them back on again walked around with them holding some bog roll to remove the excess which squirts out, boots (the same Duchini ones as yours I saw in a picture) soles have stuck since August 2008 fine. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I know you're a lezzer, luv, but NO girl should never be relying on just one pair of shooooooooes!
I've got a mate who's a cobbler, if that helps, I could put them in there for ya, so long as he keeps working, that is...
His work ethic is a bit dodgy, so when he's actually working, we all get our shoes and boots fixed pronto sharp before he jacks it in again.
I once even got him to sew a really cool leather patch on the back of my jacket - in the shape of a maltese cross (before it was uncool to have one) - to cover up a rip in my jacket where someone had stabbed it with some scissors (unknown to this day WHO did it, but I still have a hankering it might have been Anita in one of her teenage-angst moods).
... but when he's out of work we all have to wear other footwear. Anita has at least three pairs of boots she needs reheeled, but she's just not been over West London lately
So the moral of the story is: get thee to a cobbler, wench, and wear trainers for a week till your boots are proper fixed. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Hey! I actually own *counts* 19 pairs of shoes*
It's just the para boots are worn all day, every day - work, bike, pub, disco ( ) and corner shop, since I bought them a year ago.
Going out in any other footwear would be like stepping outside in totes toasties!
I'll give the no more nails a whirl, cheers Itchy
*includes boots, trainers, flip flops, slippers and football boots ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS

I tried no more nails on the sole of one of my shoes and it didn’t work so well for me. It stuck for a few days then broke away again, like it was too brittle. I was probably using the wrong sort.
I thought about the strong solvent smell you get in the cobblers and decided to try a solvent based glue. I bought some original UHU (i.e. not the solvent-free, safe for kiddies one) and it worked a treat. Glued it up and used tape to hold it all together until dry. Still solid a year later.

Anyone else open this thread expecting to see Mudskipper had her garden re-done or something? ____________________ wizzzard wrote: Imagine God just stopping by, tidying your front room up and then quietly letting himself out again. Statisticly more likely to happen than Korn being on here. |
