In that I've gathered so far that I can't do one on myself but flicking through the rather thin number of jobs on the ground (25 miles of Manchester in the last week appears to only have 300 odd jobs and many of those jobs are duplicates advertised by different agencies).

However most annoyingly is that many of these jobs say CRB or Enhanced CRB check required , expense to be met by applicant, I'm like WTF...

For a short term ie <3 month job is this worth it? , I know for a fact I've never been caught doing anything illegal.

Or find some other job to whittle away the time before the big trip? , these jobs seem thin on the ground too , the usual jobs bread factory/meat packing/fish packing/ maggot farmer all seem to not be hiring......and I'm starting to get a tad bored.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I used to deal with these CRB checks years ago when I worked for Ofsted. So, dont forget when you get one done it will last a while, I think they last for 2 years and it broadens your job choice. I would get it done! Just remember the checks take up to 6 weeks too.

Not sure how much they cost now.

6 weeks? , erm that sort of defeats the point of the exercise then as I intend to go off for a big tour of Russia and the Stans latest leaving date is 2nd week in July (Siberian winter is Mid september).

Thanks

I recently had to get a CRB check done to do some voluntary work in a Care Home. It only took two weeks to come back and cost about £6.00 met by the Home.

I know that there are different types and understand that the 'regular' one costs iro £60. I was told that as I haven't moved home very often and have not changed my name at all it was quicker as the checks are easier.
