A question of chequing

Does anybody know if I will be able to cash a cheque in my name, if I go into the account holding branch of the bank that issued it?

My months expenses have been made out to my name instead of cash by the new, fool finances girl...

I'm not sure I entirely understand? If the cheques in your name, then just take it to your bank and pay it into your bank?

I think the OP wants the cash right away.

If a cheque is made out to 'cash' and you take it to the same back as the cheque is issues by, they will simply hand over the cash.

Sadly I think you'll just have to pay it in and wait the 3-5 days.

You're right, I phoned the bank and they said I would have to get the cheque made out for cash before I could cash it...

and yes I wanted the cash today, i've had to wait 3 weeks for the bloody cheque!

If it is the same bank as you are with, it will usually go through the same day. Now banks have this quick link thing or whatever they call it, and sometimes it can only take a matter of hours for the money to go through.

Couldnt you have taken to a company like cash converters, or just a general cheque cashing company? they do quite turn around on cheques getting cashed, albeit for their fee but it depends how badly and fast you wanted the money i suppose
