Hi all,

I know some members are chef's etc so I thought I'd ask for some other ideas for pancakes? I like the classic lemon, sugar and occasionally raisins but its also nice to try something different eh? So what you got, any ideas?

Ta,
Jack

Maple syrup or jam, ok loads of butter with that and sugar.

I make my own pancakes, I just chuck the ingrediants in a bowl I had no idea of measurements but they are fantastic when they come out. And Gluten free. Drooling

Oh dear Shocked

Its Pancake Day and I've forgotten to buy some Marshmallow Fluff to replace the stuff I've been eating off a teaspoon all week.

Its wicked stuff, perfect for pancakes.
Its like the stuff you get inside a Walnut Whip.

And there's only, like, a thin smear, probably 2mm left in the bottom of the jar.

Anita's gonna keeeeeellllll meeeeee!

Mix up some mashed banana into the mix. Cook, butter, chocolate, lemon juice, roll, eat, win.

Now there's an idea.
I'm too knackered to make any, can't be bothered.
Urgh.

I'd rather have been in New Orleans today *sulk*

I never thought of that! I love pancakes but can not be bothered doing them ( I enjoy cooking but I do not normally eat eggs (fattening) and do not like milk and do not want to buy eggs and milk for just a couple of pancakes). As I am not a Christian celebrating Lent is not something that has an importance to me.

Maple syrup is great on them though.

Neither am I, but I will still eat them on pancake day, along with typical Christmas and easter traditions. Neutral Thumbs Up

I am off shopping. Rolling Eyes

I know how to make the usual mix, 8oz flour pint of milk and two eggs, but what is the mix for the american pancakes as they seem sweeter.

There are additional whisked egg whites involved, I think.

Went through a phase of making those, blueberries in the mix and shedloads of syrup on top. Om nom nom.

I actually like the McDonalds pancakes occasionally, took me a while to get into the flat sausage and syrup thing, but it really works!

God I love food, glad I don't live in America, I would be morbidly obese by now. Neutral

Well, I managed to flip a couple of the pancakes, but I'm rubbish at it Sad made lots though and was very good at eating them with fresh lemon juice and sugar - om nom nom Laughing

I made the near fatal mistake of ordering pancakes in New York - my goodness I nearly died - sick, sick, sick Sick Just can't do them, but I don't make mine as miserly as the French crepes, just a little bit fatter, so I can actually taste them Thumbs Up

Still haven't decided what to give up fo Lent Thinking

exactly the same as me...

i remember being at school with all my mates boasting about eating 5-6 pancakes when i used to struggle with 2... but later found out my mums 1cm thick pancakes equalled about 10 of the skinny ones others ate.
