Posted: 16:18 - 24 Feb 2009 Post subject: Rear Reflector, Legal requirement? |
 |
|
I've just been fiddling with my CBR's rear end (yes it sounds gay when you read it ) and wanted to know whether or not it's a legal requirement to keep the rear reflector on (the red one that sits on the black plastic below the plate).
Is it also required for the MOT? thanks. ____________________ I Ride: Honda CBR 400RR.

depends where you go, my first mot on the nsr failed for it and i had to fit one so i nicked one off my old push bike and blue tacked it on, then pulled it off again outside the mot place, but that was a stratstone main dealer type thing.
for its last mot i took it to a back street type garage and they never mentioned it.....along with 2 screws in the rear that i covered in marker and some front pads that were near the metal ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

It is a requirement but some light lenses have a built in reflector.
Most motorcycdle MOT stations will have a sheet of sticky-backed reflectors and will stick one on for you if it is missing.
If someone failed a bike of mine on no rear reflector I would never go back there for anything else (other than five minutes later for the retest with a random bit of red reflector I picked off the road at a busy junction gaffa taped to it.). ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink.
