As it's nearly February ( Laughing ) I'm starting to get in rally mode mentally.

Anyone got plans for which ones they're off to yet? Any opinions on how rally season will go this year? Last year was a struggle what with the weather (don't mention Stormin' the Castle!) and retarded police/safety nazis (don't mention RnB!).

My first this year looks to be the East Leeds Lions Easter Rally https://www.eastleedslions.co.uk/rally.php.

Beyond that, probably Farmyard and the Rock & Bike Fest in July https://www.rockandbikefest.co.uk/ for definite, maybe some small ones inbetween. A shame that this year, a few seem to clash.

Not sure whether to do Bulldog Bash or not, wasn't impressed last year for the money. Thumbs Down

I'll be at the NABD in May, was going to do the Isle of Wight the week before but decided against it, will also try to be doing one a month this year as my clubs one is in March and I should be at one ( can't remember which ) in Feb...But as of now I'll just wing it and get tickets as they come up for the rest of the year... Thumbs Up

Hopefully might get to a few rallies on my KTM for the 'Big Bike Challenge'.

Some camping and lots of mud, that is what we're talking about, yes? Wink

I've heard of that one, shame it's to far for me though, sounds like a good laugh.

Trying to cut down a bit this year!

We're deffo doing the Nabd, and possibly Creature's Any Spare Change rally (15-17 May, Peterborough), probably the Farmyard, want to do the Shires Show for the whole weekend this year not just the day, possibly the Bulldog (will depend who's playing, might go and work if it's not that exciting) but that's all we've got planned at the moment, will be playing it by ear.

I'm getting a bit old for camping. Sad Prefer to get the bikes out and ride to a nice B&B with mates these days lol!

Reckon I'll be on to your mob for a few tickets for that. We won a cow patterened bucket trophy for best club turn out this last time. I didn't half have trouble getting it home on the bike as I was carrying two bikes worth of luggage.

Ah, so you are one of the East London boys, congrats on the turn out.
Yes, we did wonder how the winner was going to get that trophy home Smile

Ahh we're pretty scattered nowadays, we've been together a long time.

I'm in Braintree, some from Avely, East Ham, another pair were from Cambridge way (they live on a boat). Rallies are sometimes the only places we all meet up.

The reason I had two lots of luggage was we had a girl who was doing her first ride after her CBT and she rode her 125 in the wind and rain both ways from Braintree to Bury. I think it definitely improved her confidence, we gave her the trophy to take home.

She's on a diet at the moment and she had us laughing when she reckoned she was breathing in calories from the smoke shooting out of the sugar factory....

Anyone aware of any rallies in Scotland around late May bank holiday?

I'm planning a long weekend up Inverness way and it would be cool to combine it with a rally.

The bum in the mud is a good little rally. I've been a couple of times, when it used to be called the arse in the grass.

You have to wait for the tide to be right to get on/off the island - but its okay so long as you don't have anywhere important to go on Sunday morning, if you don't time leaving at the right time, LOL

I'd go this year but I still can't be certain of being bikeworthy by then, and like Jo, I'm gettin too old to be bothered with camping.

I'm grinning at the number of people who call the Bulldog a rally.

I was having a "gently-heated discussion" with He-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed on that very question only last week.

When I told him that most people, i.e., Joe Biker-Public, considered it a rally, he looked at me like I had two heads
(then again, he looks at me like that quite a lot, LOL)

He appeared not to believe me when I pointed out that rally punters are not bothered whether its a slickly organised thing like the Bulldog or whether its just the smallest piss-up in a field with a campfire and a one-legged DJ with two amps and an accordian for emergencies: its still a rally to most people ... I could be wrong, as by that time we were both getting quite pissed ourselves Laughing

So I win, yay ... I insisted that if one were to post exactly this question on any biker forum, that people would include the Bulldog (or indeed any other Very Large Rally), considering it as being a rally, - unfortunately we meandered off onto other subjects and I did not ascertain quite what he sees it as : a "party" ... or as a festival, or I dunno what.

Its a fookin RALLY Shocked

Im definitely going to Rat and survival next month, and hopefully one or 2 more in the year, Any suggestions for decent rallies that arent too far from Worcester/Birmingham? Im tempted by the bulldog, but its a bit expensive.

Cheers
John

There will be a Welsh at Hereford Racecourse in June this year John (and all 2008 cancelled tickets will be honoured too) which might be OK for you?
