hi all,

i was going plodding along at say 40 and my bike developed a judder?

and started sort of swaying the back slightly......


its worse at 6k and it realy starts vibrating but if you just coast at say 30 with no throttle you can feel a knocking like 3 times in a turn of the wheel.


i have just replaced a rear shock but it cant be that?


i think its the rear wheel bearings have gone as there is alot of exxess grease around them and creaks abit now Confused

i have orderd a front and rear set (need to cleans speedo drive anyway)....my question is do you think its the rear bearings?


and how eay are they to take out aswell as putting the new ones in?any tecniques?advice?

bikes a 1999 mito.

hi

does sound like the bearings

there quite easy to change if you have a bit of savvy

good tip is put the new bearings in the freezer for a few hrs before fitting as this will help.

after knocking the old ones out (use a drift through the other bearing) re use them to tap the new ones home by laying them on top of the new bearing then tap them evenly until fully seated hth

dont hit the middle part of the bearing as this will wreck it

hi,

thanks for the comments......

but i have a big problem.....

ive just taken the rear wheel off and the bearings seem to be fine (im changing them anyway as ive order new 1s).......BUT the mesurments where way off...

bearing inside 20mm
spindal shaft 19.6mm Confused
the rod thing that goes inbetween the bearings around the outside of the spindal 21mm...


these mesurments are quite off and the shaft was very easy to get out....and if you slot the besring on the shaft it has play!

my dad was saying on his old bike the shaft and bearing where real tight and you realy had to tap it through...

are the besrings just wornout? or do i need a new spinal? but the only thing is the spindal is basicy the same mesurement throught at 19.6mm and is dead strait with no distortedness?

help!
this bike needs to be on the road thursday!

i orderd another axle off an 05 reg mito..

my bearings came today but shaft will be here tommrow/fri....


anyone know on the prev post why that happend?

update.....




ive just installed my new bearings.....put the shaft through and there is still alot of slop side to side Confused

hopefully this new axle will cure this problem?

what do you recon?

Sounds like the shaft to me... see what happens with the new one. You're not missing any spacers or anything I take it?

Edit* Just thought about that - why would the shaft suddenly be wrong? Unlikely, really - are you sure the bearings are the right spec?

well to tell you the truth the back ends allways felt a bit "wavy" Confused ..

i have no missing spacers and the bearsngs are the right ones....well the new ones are.

Sounds like the bearings seized causing the wheel spindle to tune inside them thus wearing it down in the long run.

How hard were the bearings to fit into the wheel hub? if they were loose then they too have spun and worn the hub away - if its a little wear you can compensate by using some Loctite stud n bearing fit.

they where fairly tight mate.


the rod acturly spins inside the bearing and the bearing dosent move Confused
