What about the classic childrens story The prince and the princess. Nah, not anymore, the latest books are called The prince and the prince. Yes you guessed it, the prince leaves the castle and searches the country for a bride, but returns with a boyfriend.

For the record, I have absolutely no problem with the GLBT community, I know plenty of them and they are fine people. And FWIW, they too have a problem with promoting homosexuality in schools.

If it's taught then it'll become more prevalent, but that's what we all want isn't it to encourage the minorities and artifically turn them into a majority possibly, there'll be government incentives for being gay next.

Teaching children something exists doesn't mean they are more likely to become what they have learned.. Rolling Eyes

I didn't know kids were going to be taught about homosexuality, in sex education classes i presume. Well there's plenty of them out there, they are not going away despite how much some people may despise them. If teaching kids about their existence leads to a small amount of acceptance later in life then all the better.

If my understanding of this is correct (that they are educating people about the existence of homosexuality) then i fail to see how this is 'Promoting' homosexuality. When kids learn about the 2nd world war are they promoting anti Semitism and genocide? Really now pigmo this is the 2nd time i have read one of your stupid ideas in 2 days. Are you trying to be simple or does it come naturally?

Homosexuality is genetic, i encourage anyone who thinks it's a conscious choice to do some research on the subject. Also consider your own preference to women. Personally i like what i like. I haven't woke up and decided i like slim brunets, i could try and like fat blondes but you know it just wont work! The paradigm (if not the science behind it is) the same in many ways for gay folk. If your kid turned out to be gay it's not because they had been brainwashed, it's because they were born like that, just as if they had tourettes, they can't help it. So don't punish them for it.

Edit: Doh!

I did guess from the garbled drivel in the first post that their must be some news item announcing some new policy regarding sexual orientation in schools.

I have done a google, checked out BBC news but can't find anything. So I'm assuming it's some Daily Hate hysterical headline that's been printed, but since no-one can be arsed to give a link (in the CURRENT AFFAIRS section), I guess I'll just have to wait to comment. Rolling Eyes

Well you see Soul_trader who seems to have a little coffee in the cream of his genetic make up has decided that we should pretend that there are no gay men in the world, he doesn't seem to mind gay women though. He has done this by using a Jamaican reference word to gay men, Batty man. Strange how someone who appears to be mixed race, aren't we all after all would attack another minoity.

I would say the bigger problem is schools don't seem to teach people how to think any more.

OK before I start on not categorizing the two together here but if sexual preference is genetic does that mean a pedophile is genetically wired to be attracted to children?

If that's the case isn't trying to "treat" a peadophile and release them back into the community a bit like trying to cure someone of homosexuality?

I believe them to be the same, both a disorder also. One just happens to be extremely dangerous, the other..meh.

My guess is there are far more people that find kids attractive out there than those who would act upon it. Consider the number of rapists to those who just have sex. After all there's an endless stream of people caught with child porn on the news that usually comes as a surprise. I expect their ability to not be attracted to children is the same as a normal person trying to be attracted to them. It all seems too hard wired, either in biology or deep in psychology.

Quote:

The discovery that the nucleus differs in size between heterosexual and homosexual men illustrates that sexual orientation in humans is amenable to study at the biological level, and this discovery opens the door to studies of neurotransmitters or receptors that might be involved in regulating this aspect of personality.

Source

Of course i could be wrong about it being biological, it just tends to make more sense. Friend of the ex almost had his family ripped apart because he was gay, he was devastated. Doesn't sound like a life style choice to me. Something I know he wishes he could of changed at the time and be normal, but he was how he was made.

It would seem so, however I'm trying to remain objective but in doing so am riled by both the lack of any source for starting this thread, and the fact that the title makes no sense whatsoever.

Quote:
Kids at school taught batty boy.

Does he mean:

a) Some children at school have taught a homosexual male Confused
b) Children at school are being taught homosexual male (?) Neutral
c) He actually means children at school are being taught ABOUT a homosexual male. Rolling Eyes

Oh I'd also like to see a source for pigmo's alleged 'The Prince and the Prince' book.

It sounds very similar to the old 'kids are banned from singing Baa Baa Black sheep cause it's racist blah blah' bollocks to me.

Maybe he's got a little confused by the literary title 'Harry Potter and the half-blood prince' Rolling Eyes

I heard on the radio last night, that they are planning on teaching kids as young as 4 or 5 about gay/lesbian relationships.

Now I dont care whether people munch rug or like bottom, the point is that kids of that age don't need teaching about "normal" relationships. So why must they be taught about gay/lesbian relationships?

Surely at those ages its just going to confuse them. Confused

And not wanting the lessons to take place does not make people homophobic.

If at 5 years old my daughter was being taught to read the prince and the prince I would buy her the proper book and give her that for school.

Whatever next?

Finally some info about this! I half heard a debate on the radio driving into work, couldn't find anything on bbc news when i first read about it but put 2 and 2 together from what the morons were saying at the start.

4 or 5 though..I agree why would kids need to know about something they can't understand.

I remember getting my first lesson in Primary school think i was about 10? From what i remember it was all just a big joke, no one wanted to know this kinda stuff even at that age. Personally i used it as a way to embarrass the teacher as much as possible, to great success.

....I must get some work done today

LOL, you managed to contradict yourself in one sentence! A story about a prince and a princess is teaching kids about relationships. The relationship between a man and a woman. So what difference does it make if its a man and a man???!!! Its not like its a porn story showing graphic pictures of the prince and princess having full on sex!!!

So you are saying by it being two princes falling in love that is wrong compared to a prince and a princess falling in love??

You see, I think it's the misinterpretation of 'relationships', Guv.

Of course kids of that age are taught about relationships, obviously not the detail but the fact that usually there is a mum and a dad and they are married or live together. And that has been the standard 'storybook family' for like, ever.

What is changing, reflects real life and real families.

Families these days can be single parent, or where kids are raised by grandparents, and yes shock horror there are perfectly nice families where the parents happen to be of the same sex.

Why should all childrens stories stick rigidly to 'Mum-Dad-kids' when that situation is not relevant for a lot of kids today? Why should they feel they are freaks who cannot have a happy ending like in the stories they read, just because their Dad doesn't live with them, or because their Gran is their guardian rather than parents?

It's the misinformation spread by tabloid journalism that causes all this hoo-ha and breeds hate and fear.

Stories and discussions in schools reflect society, wow. It's hardly like they're gonna take 5 year olds on school trips to Canal Street, for fucks sake.

Children are without prejudice and accept what they see around them, it's parents who instill their own ignorance into their children that is the problem.

Which would you prefer, your kid pointing at a gay couple in the street shouting 'Daddy, why are those men holding hands?' and having to give an answer to the confused child, or your kid quietly noticing said couple and relating it to a story where there were two Dad's, for example, and thinking nothing more of it?

As I said in my last email. I don't think it's all about teaching kids about the actual 'SEX' act at that age (thats just the usual tabloid take on the whole thing, just because it's two people of the same sex means it must be a sex manual not just a story) it's just allowing stories to be told without having to worry about the sex of the people involved because it doesn't matter!

I always thought homosexuality was nature and nurture.
I am a slight hypocrite in as much as I don't like hairy arsed gay men but I do like lipstick lesbians. Is that my nature/nurture thing?
Being anti gay could be a nature thing too. Don't just dismiss it as bigotry, just the same as no one should dismiss homosexuality as evil and perverted.
I do believe that we should all have the chance to find the person who we want to be happy with no matter what gender.

You right, it makes sense that nature should make us anti-gay as nature tells us we need to procreate or the species will die out. But surely nurture should tell us that the last thing this planet needs is more people!

The prince and the princess is just a childs story, to re write the book and give that to kids is ALL for gay relationships.

Like I said, I aint bothered whether people are gay or not, a cliche I know but I do have gay/lesbian friends so thats not my point. Why must a book that kids love be changed to two men?

How is that going to do any good? Kids of that age will be more concerned about the fact two men are together than the story.

Its far too much for kids of that age.

It's simpler than that, homosexuality is just nature's way to attempt to control population, if ever person born on the planet had kids we would soon be so over-populated that our species would die out very quickly.

Straight people should be thankful to gay people that they are helping to keep the human race to survive on the planet!! Laughing
