Immigration Tests for a Multicultural Society?

I am divided in my opinion after reading this story.

Would such a thing be a good idea to come to England eventually? Would it even be effective?

Do we really have such problems where Muslims are trying to change the way we behave? I have read my fair share of sensationalist tabloid headlines to that effect but is it really such a problem? I have known a fair few Muslims over the years and they have never expressed a desire to change England, although they were mostly 2nd or 3rd generation.

But then, we do have a right to protect out culture, having residency applicants take a simple test.. a British test..hmm

There's a long queue do you;

Stand in line patiently

Make up a BS excuse to cut in front of everyone

Push infront of everyone, pretend not to understand them

Pick up your giro elsewhere (jk)

So anyway, thoughts?

Two points.

1. If anyone passes an exam and is allowed to stay, they will claim that they really earned the right to stay here and claim benefits and that they are more 'qualified' to be here than a real Brit, who was just accidentally born here.

2. Have you noticed that peoples unwillingness to change is changed to "fear of change" and so portrayed as a weakness.

If you're referring to a test for citizenship then I don't see why not as most other countries have one. Thought as it's being referred to as "Britishness" it's not doubt going to be a total farce anyway, and to be honest immigration is no longer controllable it's been too far gone for years, you can put all the pointless hurdles you like in it won't make any difference. They give anyone a passport, you really think they'll deny anyone who fails the Britishness test, no you'll have have to resit it at £5 a go until you pass, and they'll probably give you a book with all the questions to learn beforehand.

A good idea to put right the idea that when moving to a foreign country, you have to put up with the host country's culture.
You do not move in and then start bleating that your third world culture and/or medieval religion demands that the host country changes things to suit you.

The trouble is, that for vast tracts of Western Europe, as well as Great Britain, it is too little, too late.

The following quote from the OP's link, says it all:-
