Always fancied a Firestorm

Well I finanlly have one, paid £700 for her, needs a few bits putting back on;

- Cooling system
- carbs, air box
- tank, fairing seat and rear light
- exhausts

Was told she was running fine before it was taken apart

All I need to get for it is a set of tyres, probably just going to look out for a good second hand set on ebay.

If it is was running fine, why was it taken apart?

To give it a clean? Thats what the guy said to me, he bought it in even less parts but needs the space in his garage as he already had two old BSA's a triumph tiger and a load of other stuff.

I'm confident it will run

A) Love petrol
B) have a miniscule tank

Not the best combination but I still really like them.

Lazy?..lazy sounding, but far from it off the throttle....well known to be a grunty lump....mine shifts like poop off a shovel off the lights ...not that i EVER race off the lights

i've had three of them, the last one lunched its front camchain tensioner, the cam chain jumped the sprockets and threw the cam timing wildly out, the valves said hello to the piston, snapped their heads off, wrecked the valve seats and guides, which said goodbye to the head, and the cylinder sleeve split wrecking the block


moral of the story is, they're great bikes, but buy some manual camchain tensioners!

Yeah out of all the V-twin sports bike's they do some things the worst and other things the best! The top speed and the wheelie potential being an example of both.

Great bikes, and a little bit of work on the suspension and brakes will have them hanging on the road with far flasher more expensive V-twins. They desperately need more ground clearance for track work, and aftermarket rear sets are a very sensible idea, along with a taller shock too!

They make a nice and very grunty 97-98bhp at the rear hoop as std, and a pair of can's, and a Dynojet kit correctly set up seems to see around 104-106bhp. The midrange is awesome, and the bottom end is snatchy. Don't fit cheap race cans or carbon ones either IMO, as they do bang, pop and backfire a fair bit with those huge carbs, and this tends to blow cheap exhausts to peices!

Oh and they make an excellent sound with decent exhausts fitted. Have been known to set off car alarms like the Suzuki TL's do too.
