Positive discrimination to get minorities into police ended

I havnt got a link, but I saw it on the front of a newspaper.

Maybe its time for Mr James to reapply to the police, as white males now have just as much chance as anyone else.

Or put more sympathetically " diversity targets brought in for police forces after the publication of the Macpherson Report are to be scrapped."

Can't imagine why anyone would want to be a copper anymore, the job is a farce, not about protecting anyone but simply about making targets, making money and making people afraid to step out of line when it comes to petty civil offences and the like.

Why the change, does the police force no longer need to 'better represent the community it oppresses'. I guess when your buried inside a BMW 5 series, 5 inches of body armour and flouro gear and uphold the law at a safe distance by dishing out fixed penalties and threatening letters to everyone it doesn't matter what you look like as no one will ever see you.

My mate who is a copper does quite a lot of overtime, but pulls in about £40k, and he really enjoys the job. Its rarely boring apparently, whereas when he was a rep, he would often be bored.

He does get to make a difference at times, although a lot of time, he gets frustrated when he is sure who is guilty but doesn't have the evidence.

He wishes he had got into it earlier, as some people get to retire at 45 with a full pension and then work part time or set up a business to subsidise their income.

The police is certainly a lot better than joining the army, where the odds of getting maimed or killed are a lot higher, and you will be posted away from home. Fine when single, not so good for people with a family.
