I don't see what the big deal is about, no need for a jail sentence in my eyes.

You can mug someone in the street with a knife, rob someones house, steal a car and probally still only get a few hours of community service. Yet someone who was speeding with his son on the back gets put in jail and taken away from his family?

This country is messed up.

I dont know the original story? Did he crash or something? Or was he just clocked? If its just a speeding case then thats utterly ridiculous, when, as mentioned, the dozy bint who actually killed a biker whilst texting got far less.

It takes the piss local paper said a 18yr old who stole a beamer and was chased with speeds exeding 100mph without a licence crashed the car and tryed to leg it got a 3 year driving ban (whats the point) big fine and some comunity service ??

Being a dad and regularly take my 14 year old on the back albeit with full leathers and gloves etc doing that in the wet was a bit twattish !

However getting 6 months is b0llocks.

Look at the scum who nicked my bike and then rode it p1ssed and crashed it 1/2 mile later. He's got away with it scott free and he was on probation.

He was far more dangerous than this.

I've been on the back of my dads R1 doing 167(GPS) when i was 13, at the same time was a bloke called Hippy(kinda fits) with his 11 year old son on the back doing 120 on one wheel.

i could understand a fine and some points but 6 months is silly.

He is being made an example of and with a kid on board they will not treat it lightly putting a minor in danger. If he was alone then it would just be fine/ban/points but as he wasn't a custodial sentence was given. Common thing when endangering a child.

how is it that some chap being naughty on his bike with his son gets sent to jail, yet some chav scroat gets off (again & again) for some other offence like smacking a pensioner or robbing someone..

to me robbing some poor bastard is far wrose than breaking the limit on a machine (son excluded)

It is a bit irresponsible to allow your kid pillion with no body protection and then go speeding.

Someone said about the kid being without a father for 6 months (he will be let out sooner than that anyway) but if the father does that sort of thing perhaps the kid would be better off without him! IF they had had an accident and the kid was badly injured or killed then the bloke would have been gutted. I know we all take risks, but they have to be calculated risks. I never ride without protection and I wouldn't expect my pillion to have any less protection than me.

How would everyone feel if they were in a plane crash and the pilot had a parachute and jumped. I'm sure you would be all pissed off that there weren't parachutes supplied by the airline! Silly analogy I know but the same idea really.

A custodial sentence does seem extreme when compared to other crimes but I think we should concentrate more on higher penalties for those crimes rather than trying to trivialise this one.

Not a good idea with your kid on the back but definatly not worthy of jail. I was going faster today with a friend on the back and I'd hate to think I could have been jailed for it.

To be honest and I shouldnt admit to this cause I'll only get flack but a few years ago I had my son on the back going round a r-bout we were both high sided, slow fortunately and we werent hurt bad couple of scrapes but I now believe there should be a law preventing carrying kids, shit happens when you least expect it and if youve been riding long enough you will have hit an unexpected greasy spot cause its just a matter of time, good luck
