hi,
well. give us a clue then! lol (ie-what kind of problems?)
i doubt they are problems specific to your particular brand of bike, & are likely to be common/generic problems & im sure someone will be able to help, if your specific enough.
cheers,
GAZr

Hi,
as far as i was aware, that was just an indicator, to let you know when your mobile phone is ringing, in case you cant hear it over the sound of that noisy engine, lol.
(though i didnt think it was fitted to the custom?)
so i very much doubt it has anything to do with the running problems, unless anyone knows anything else?
are you sure its an icon of a phone & not something else? (like an oil can perhaps?)
have you tried a new spark plug?
as they usually come fitted with some crap lg/torch ones that are known to cause all sorts of problems, inclding random cutting out.
have you checked all the usual suspects?
loose connectors at the battery or elsewhere in the wiring?
or side stand cut out switch?
cheers,
GAZ

Your "dash" looks like this, right?

https://img166.imageshack.us/img166/420/dsc09276.jpg

Which light is it that's coming on?

If it's the light just under the zero on the speedo, that's a picture of a fuel pump, no a phone... It means your nearly out of fuel.

Hopefully you knew that Razz

The lighht uner that one has a thermometer next to it, so i guess when that comes on it means your engine is overheaing. That's under the picture of the "phone". ( Laughing )

i was thinking of a completely different speedo, bar mounted, 2 or 3 warning lights & an led gear indicator..
makes me laugh though, "phone" or "petrol pump" easy mistake to make, lol
cheers,

Its really sort of random but hey.

On the Virago there isn't a fuel tap and no reserve tank as such. What it does is when the fuel gets to a particular level it turns a little red light on and restricts the flow through the fuel pump making it feel like your running out of fuel. To get round this you have to flick a little switch marked 'res' which turns the pump back on to full flow.

Just wondered if this was similar but you have a faulty fuel level sender?
