Might be old news but I searched and no one had posted so I thought I would. They've launched a race series for the R125, they come with 180cc kits and stuff. The winner gets a slot in the 600 superstock! How much power do you reckon these Cup edition bikes put out?

I'd go for 17-18bhp at the back wheel, as the std 125's just about manage 12.2bhp at the wheel. Either way the racing should be close and fun to watch. it will be interesting to see what speeds they hit on the the longer tracks/straights, as again a std 125 seems to manage a true laser timed 71-73mph on the flat, and high 70's down hill. The speedo does read into the mid eighties at these speeds so i've heard.

The R125 is not a bad bike, but until they fit the 32bhp WR250X engine, they are missing a massive oppertunity to dominate the sporty sub 33bhp sportsbike market, and lead the 250cc catagory by miles. It's just as Kawasaki have made a reasonable stylish and ok performing 250, but they had an engine, and it could have powered something far more exiting and special, but they were to conservative. If Kawasaki and Suzuki shared the development costs to build a ZX2R for example with ZX6R styling and agression and the 30bhp engine slotted in, then they could take the fight to Yamaha before it's too late.

That's what I was thinking, if they had a bigger version near the 33bhp limited that would be awesome, i'd definitely buy one but then I guess they'd loose out on the 125 market because it might be a bit pointless having 2 bikes looking exactly the same

Not really, GSXR series? ZX6R, ZX10R?

The race ones look quite fun, I'd still be unlikely to buy one though, even in 250 guise.

R125's have 14.7BHP. Wink
They also hit a true 78mph as I've read. Smile

My figure's were from PB and SB magazines, and at least one of them was dyno'd at BSD, and the Speed testing done at Bruntingthorpe!

You just don't really argue with BSD's dyno figure's and the performance testing at Brunter's as virtually every big bike has been magazine tested there at least once, and probably dozens of times TBH.

But you can't really get them here.

The only real bike Honda do in the sub 33bhp category is the CBF250, it has 20bhp, costs more than the Kawasaki ninja new and is quite frankly, crap.
