Nice title eh, anyways, welcome to the beginning of one of the most boring, shockingly shit projects on this forum.

The project bike is a Honda CB500 96 model (have to double check that!), i bought it for £500 and it's going to be my first "big bike" as a step up from my DT.

The aim of this project (because i don't want to spend much money on it) is to clean the bike up, streetfighter it and most of all, learn.

Following is some shit quality, night time pics of the first stage, which took me about 3 hours because i was taking my time and looking at everything since its the first time i've stripped it (or any bike for that matter).

The arrival, 30 mins in the back of a van, sitting on the bike while my mate whipped the van round corners and i struggled to stay upright, it was a workout and a half, the bike fell on my once and the foot peg went between the muscle and bone on my lower leg (calf?), yes it hurt.

I began taking all the fairings off, went pretty well although a few screws were rounded off and took ages to get out. you can see the screw sticking out of the headlights frame, i tried everything to get it out to no avail.

I dissembled the headlight casing and all which i later found was unnecessary since i just needed to unscrew the frame which held the fairings and stuff, felt like a dick when i found out, lmao.

i managed to get everything i wanted done and finished by 9.00pm (hence the dark pictures) fairings off, lamps off, it doesnt seem like much but it took me a little while lol.

I'll get some better pics on the weekend when i've got time, like many others i have to work.

Hope you've enjoyed the boring story thus far, don't turn the bath on yet ! you can share it with the toaster later because there is more to come and no doubt i'm at the point where i'll need advice on what to do and not to do.

thanks for reading : D

What do you mean by streetfighter it? The average meaning for 'streetfighter' is becoming less uber cool wheelie bike modded to fook, and more shit bike made shitter. Not taking a dig there- just don't abuse the word streetfighter dammit or make a mess of what could be a decent bike! It's done all to often! /rant over/ Laughing

Oh and a tip on securing a bike in a van really easily- position the bike down the centre of the van, with the front wheel up to the bulkhead. Hook a tie down strap onto both sides of the handlebars and find something to hook the other end onto in each corner of the van or on the bulkhead. Pull each one really tight, compressing the forks and pulling the front end of the bike down and making the bike REALLY secure. Hope you understand that! I typed it out so i could understand it!

Daz.

i think the term "streetfighter" is open to interpretation to be honoust, depending on your first general understanding of the word.

generally i tend to see it as customising the bike to give it a more aggressive look (removing it from its factory look) by removing the fairings amongst other things.

thanks for the transport ideas but i doubt i'll remember them the next time i do it, i'll defiantly be bringing rope though ; ).

Streetfighter, agressive stance, engine an as many custom or one off parts as possible, almost brutal performance and looks.

You do know those are aftermaket fairings, so you're actually returning it to it's factory look Razz

CB has some quite nice lines with high bars and the rad covers taken off:

My advice would be a general clean up, respray, tarty bars and look into new suspension, yours will probably be pretty tired by now. Make sure your tyres are decent, and a braided line makes a pretty big difference.

Or you could go down a spending money route, Have a look what front ends will slot into the headstock, and look at getting a brace for a monoshock welded on + a new swingarm, since mines in bits give us a shout if you need measurements of owt.

Oh and B&C express sell a +7 tooth rear sprocket, which is fun, +4 or 5 would make 1st a lot more usable though

And three hours to do that? me and my housemate stripped mine to components in three hours Razz . Though we're pretty well practised by now.

Great fun bikes if your not scared to drop em, ideal confidence builders Thumbs Up
