Whats with all the bike ads on TV?

Been watching TV for about half an hour and already there have been like 3 THINK adverts about bikes, my mum keeps looking at me every time they come on and she says 'see that's why I don't want you on a bike'

The worst is the one where the car pulls out and the bike hits him on the side 'Look, look then look again' one.

Do you think people actually pay attention to this stuff?

The weather is better, theres more bikes on the road, and the death count has already started.

I guess thats what prompted the ads.

They have been playing them quite often on the radio too. I guess it's because spring is on the way.

there back on tv as this is usually the time the summer riders start to take the cover off there bikes and go for a spin at the weekend.

I had a woman do a similar thing to me last week, i could have sworn she looked right at me, looked away then pulled out. managed to swerve - i remember someone writing on here its a good idea to cover the horn.

I'm guilty of it myself - but there were 'mitigating circumstances' - It was heavily raining at night, there was a scooter approaching to my right, which was being followed by a bus. It's tiny light headlight was outshone by the bus' headlights, and he/she wasnt wearing any hi-viz. I must have looked right through the rider to focus on the bus behind.

I pulled out about half a metre causing it to swerve, stopped as i did look back to the right again. Luckily no accident, but so easy to do. No excuse tho.

Its normal , as part of the government bribe program, in that TV + radio is being flooded with government advertising , and thus these media outlets are less harsh on the government's failings.

Listen to the radio for an hour or two any commercial station and you hear many many government adverts:

PAY YOUR ROAD TAX

Join the army

Joing the RAF

Tax credits are you claiming what you are due

Benefit fraud blah blah

Illegal workers you are responsible

TV licenceing

EMA

List is endless.

Next time it comes on look at your mum and say "That's why I don't like you driving your car".

I cover the horn when approaching anywhere a car might come out of. I done this instinctively before ever being advised on it, and it has paid off a few times.

got my insurance citificate throught today, and 4 think bike stickers through with it. To put on screens and windows. I thought that was quite good, my mum now has boht front and back of her car with them, "Doing her part"

I think that the only THINK! advert thats sort of worked on me, is the man who was speeding and killed the child. as a result, he see's the dead body all over the place in his everyday life.
duno why, but the boys face reminds me of the little boy from 'the grudge' horror movie series
