I considered one of those briefly but then noticed it was a road bike and unsuitable for my wants (the front mud guard gives it away).
Erm if I were you and admittedly I'm not I'd raise the mud guard (see Korn's tour thread) and put some proper knobblies on it, in that those are clearly road tyres and its horrendous riding around in mud/gravel with road tyres. I'd also replace the thin plastic bash plate with a 3.5-4mm alloy one that plastic one will break first rock it hits!.
Also replace the foot pegs with metal spiky type ones rubber ones in the wet mud are downright dangerous.

Yeah, 'as is' it's more of a battle bike for Londons roads. Lewisham council seem to want to replicate the roads throughout most the African continent, probably to make their staff feel at home (miaow!).
But I am planning on a bash plate and engine bars. Will probably also invest in knobblies when playing on more dirty stuff.
Sadly, everything costs money and will have to buy it bit-by-bit.
This my first bike of this style, so I wont be doing anything too adventurous this year I expect!

Engine bars? , they have them hidden away under those plastics IIRC from taking one for a spin at Wigan Yamaha.

Real nice ride ... i wish YamahaCanada had the sense to sell the Tenere in Canada. My only choice is the KLR.

It looks very nice although i admit i dont have a clue about off-roading (Yet!).
It kinda reminds me of thos robot things from star wars... with the guns... ill find a picture
