I know this is a video, but I figured more people would see it in here and it's actually worth a watch for the new season even if just to refresh stuff.

Not the usual tripe either.

Looks like a good refresher for the summer bikers Thumbs Up

Although having said that I'm sure the ones that are most likely to end up in a ditch would think themselves above watching it.

Or chasing down and overtaking the guy that overtook him.

I liked the bit where he says ' I can see a vehicle travelling at high speed around the corner' Then he meets the vehicle, a Ninja of some sorts travelling quite slowly behind a panda car Laughing

i wonder if he always rides like that? Mr. Green

Was something i didnt agree with though mabee because im a rookie Question

When he is in the countryside he comes to a near blind left hand bend and goes up to the center line. It had me thinking what if someone was to cut over the line slightly from the other direction he would have no time to react.

That road position has two major benefits:

1. It allows a better view through the bend than any other due to the sight lines;
2. On exit of the bend there is less chance of running wide than if you were to take a normal wide-near-wide racing line (as you are not moving wide at the exit), which can be nasty if you were to run into the other lane.

Now I haven't seen his actual line, but I always leave at least 18" between my tyre and the white line on LH bends, just to give me the safety error should someone be cutting the corner at speed.

Also consider that having that extra sightline is useless if you aren't prepared to react to what you see. He will be prepared to sacrifice road position if the oncoming vehicle poses a threat to his position, e.g. over the centre line.

To be fair I was very disappointed he didn't clutch it up over the crest.

The only bit I thought was strange was where he used his horn to warn the pedestrians. I can see why he did it, but it probably just made the pedestrians think he was a knob.

I enjoyed watching that but i wonder if he ride's like that all the time.

Also wonder what his excuse would be if had an accident in that busy high street.

" sorry officer i was too busy looking at the reflection in the shop window of the junction and never saw the old woman hobble into the road" Mr. Green

Good vid though.

Vid was ok, not sure I learnt a lot and the guy needs to live a little though Laughing Probably rides a lot faster on his own time Mr. Green

Only thing I don't agree with is using signals like the "slowing down" one. 95% of people will have no fecking clue what that means and will be confused, better to wave them out imo. The 5% that do know are probably the ones that take their driving more seriously anyway and are less likely to kill you doing something stupid.

although a lot of what he was saying/doing was right, he was a little dull and overdoes it a bit IMO, almost sucks the fun out of it by over analyzing everything, which is a good thing for the safety side of things, but its like wearing a jonny for sex, sure its safer but its sooo much much more satisfying going in bareback

I think the majority of 'good' riders will do all this sub-consciously... well I would hope they would, what he was saying/doing was just common road sense to me. Looking over/through hedges on the country roads. Reading the signs and the road marks to give you a clue to whats a head. Observing that vehicles could need extra room etc.

Got to remember he will be trying to rider 'safer' because he is being filmed.

You can overtake agricultural vehicles that are doing less than 10mph on solid white lines. (I think... I remember there is something about if they're doing under 10mph you can overtake them.) Possibly with orange lights.

Might want to read up on the highway code Wink

Also I would've personally waited till I could see round the corner Confused

The hedge trimmer thing wasn't moving, so he would have had to wait a while... Wink

Only if it's safe and to overtake stuff doing under 10mph, which he said before he overtook it IIRC. Thumbs Up
