i sometimes need to commute on some unlit country roads around the matlock area and have found a lot of car drivers cant be bothered to switch to dipped when passing me which temporarily blinds me for a second or two and its pretty scary(10 fold if its rainy and theres spots of water on me visor)

So now if they do it they will be getting a face full of hi beam HID power Twisted Evil and hopefully end up in a ditch Laughing

both bulbs are HID bulbs so dipped are supposed to be still dipped but somehow mine are a bit skward, got jestures from a few drivers today to say my lights were blinding them and that was at lunchtime Laughing

i need to have a look tonight or tomorrow to see why there so high, i think it has something to do with the actual bulb being longer than standard and the light is leaking past the reflector cup thingy inside the light housing, im sure if im behind a cop car they wont be too impressed with my lights shining onto there rear view mirror and dazzling them Confused ace for power filtering though Thumbs Up

Hi

Lights rely on the element being in the right position for the reflector to aim it. So if the bit generating the light is in the wrong position then the beam position will be pretty random and could quite easily dazzle people, especially with HID setups.

If aligned correctly an HID setup will probably get through the MOT, but they are not legal on the road anyway (can only be fitted with self leveling suspension and headlight washers).

All the best

Keith

will probably put a few spacers in between the bulb plate and light housing then and see what that does, mighn't even give the adjuster bolt a few turns aswell Idea

Alternatively you both blind each other and you end up going through their windscreen at 60 mph !

How much further than the normal lights do they project ?

depends on what kelvin rating the bulb is, 4300k(mine) being the whitest and brightest to 12000k being the bluest but dullest,

the way mine are set up at the minute, for a guess i would say atleast 2 to 3 times further than the old bulbs, its not really the distance that is the main advantage as they should be angled to the same degree as standard bulbs, its just a different kind of light that somehow makes objects appear more as they would in the daytime(if that makes sense)

Because a few mm of difference in the position of the light emitting part compared to a conventional bulb will make a major difference to where the beam lands up pointing.

All the best

i paid £55 for mine but the usual slim ballast kits are about £65 IIRC(inc postage), but i dont think they will be branded kits.

got the alignment sorted on mine now, turns out there was loads of adjustment left in the reflector moving bolt thingy so it was a doddle to sort

Did you get them from the same place that me and G got ours from?

Mine are pretty bitchin' and yes, that 1-2mm does make a lot of a difference, as well as how the bulb sits on the holder since it affects the aim of the beam.

Are those blue things plastic covers on the bulbs? I'm presuming, if they are, that they'd be for shipping purposes. If they ain't, then those are some damn weird-looking bulbs...

Just fitted an HID kit to my Bandit 6 this weekend just gone, and the difference is staggering. HID FTW!
