Hi all just bought a 2000 speedfight 2 100, 100cc

and on driving it seems to struggle up hills and their is a rattle at tick over

it seems to do less than 20mph up hills but picks up slightly when on flats (if you were to stop and turn off the ignition and try again it seems to pick up a bit more then back to the same problem)

also noticed it is struggling to start when wet via electric start frist thing in the morning but after is fine

what is this likely to be ?

order yourself a new drive belt and a set of variator rollers. Then when you have fitted these come back if the problem is still occuring. A std speedfight 100 should manage an indicated 55mph on the flat in good conditions. Downhill expect to see 60-62mph. They are not fast even when tuned but it should definately be topping 50mph, and getting up to 30mph reasonably quickly.

If you're only seeing an indicated 55mph, there are issues Laughing Speedfight clocks are unreliable, an indicated 70mph on the flat would mean the bike is good.

I agree though, try changing the belt and rollers and see how it performs after that.

What I mean was don't expect too much from a scootay.

Although that does sound a little slow. Mine only did 40-45 flat out but I am morbidly obese.

it manages 62 down hill

but arround 30-40 on a flat

was thinking it might be the rings with the under power side

will have a look at the belt and rollers

But we are talking about a 100cc. It has more then twice the power of the 50cc Wink

the std Peugeot 100cc engine seems to put out about 7.5bhp at the wheel. My Speedfight with me on it (11.5-12st) would always sit at an indicated 90kph/56mph on the flat, unless you had a decent tailwind to push it to 60mph. The real speed achieved according to my sigma trip computer was 54mph.

With 11.8bhp from tuning, the normal top speed rose to an indicated 110kph/68mph and this was 63mph on the trip computer. Thumbs Down

The only mod i would reccomend anyone to try on the 100cc engine's is the PM55 exhaust. It needs new rollers and re-jetting, but it does seem to show nearly 2bhp extra over more than 1/2 the speed range. The top end seems to be 4-6mph better and it holds 55mph for much longer and up hills. This would have set me back less than £250 and made my scoot a bit more fun and nicer to ride. The £700 i spent on tuning just made it un-reliable instead.

not used to twist and go's always prefered gears

might whip the sparkplug out see whats going on with it and may pop the head off just to see if their is any scooring or damage
