So it's time i got a new bike. I love my faithful and springy little DT but after 3 years i'm bored of it. I need something with a bit more power and a lot more oomph! Twisted Evil

So i've decided i'm going to buy the new XJ6 from Yamaha, but i'm stuck on the colour.

There's yellow, and i do love bright colours:

Black, which is great for concealing dirt Wink :

Or shiny white, which is very eye catching:

I like them all equally and am torn!

What why don't they do a proper colour like RED? Confused ....

But...

I'd probably go for yellow or black out of those choices in that white bikes always go a horrible yellow colour quite quickly , while yellow and black will fade but it won't look Urine coloured.

White, followed by yellow, with black last.

I've never been a fan of red. Something about a red bike or car just doesn't appeal to me. Couldn't explain why though? Neutral

Is there anything you can do to stop the white turning yellow? As much as i love yellow, urine yellow isn't a sexy look... Shocked

I'd ride a pink bike before a purple one.

In this case, the white one is the snazziest looking
The black one looks rather brutish, though Cool Thumbs Up
The yellow one just shouts "Look at me" in a way that makes your eyeballs itch.

White, it contrasts with the black chassis, engine and cycle components better than the yellow. Stick some white rim tape on it and you're laughing!

Yellow FTW!

The black bike is ok, but won't really stand out as there isn't much shiney stuff or chrome on the XJ. The white doesn't work well for me, as to make white look great you need alot more surface area, or a fully faired bike in other words.

White then black. I do like yellow bikes, but that doesn't appeal, needs to be a bit darker I think.

The white looks smart and eye catching. The black looks aggressive and stealthy.

I thought that originally when i was comparing the white and the yellow.

The grey pointy bits (for want of a better phrase) look better against the white in contrast, because there is a bit of grey/ silver detailing on the tank.

The grey bits on the yellow version just look a bit out of place, because grey and yellow don't go. Like they've been stuck on from a different bike?

When i first saw the bike colours this was my first thought:

Arrow I love the yellow but don't like the grey bits so much. What would they look like if i sprayed them yellow too?
Arrow The white is lovely, but would it stay looking pristine for very long? I ride every day without fail, leaving it out all day while i'm at work and garaged at night...
Arrow The black looks a bit brutish (which i like!) but is it too black? Is it boring?

Can someone do me a favour please? Mr. Green
Can someone try to photoshop the yellow bike so that the grey bits are also yellow, just for comparison, or any other colour that would work better.

I don't have access to photoshop at the mo otherwise i'd do it myself.

Spot on! Thanks very much for doing that Very Happy Thumbs Up

I like it more with the grey bit painted yellow, but i'm not entirely convinced still. I think i'm going to buy the white one... or the black Thinking

I know yellow is the fastest colour, and i've always wanted a lovely yellow bike, but i'm not sure if this is the one... i've always had a soft spot for yellow GSXR's, so maybe i'll get one of those one day.

I really wish someone could decide for me. As you can see i fall apart when given too much choice; a bit like when there's 100 parking spaces free and yet you still don't know which one to park in! Brick Wall

If you get white ask to see some of their used models and if they are white, should give you a slight indicator of how fast yellowing occurs.

Ged's pan yellowed after a couple of years (it was new but often used to go to morroco on so the heat might have had an effect).

While BMW man's BMW stays under a cover all the time now and is at least 5 years old and hasn't yellowed.

All the FZ6s I've seen are still white after a year or two.

I very much doubt that modern bikes fade much, especially not in the time you'll own it....unless you own it for 10+ years

I was in a yamaha dealer today, they didn't have the yellow one but out of the black and white, I though the white one stood out as the nicer of the two.

They also had a dark red one with a headlight fairing which was pretty nice.
