Bike Tax question????

ok, i've got my hands on another bike, now i'd like to ride it, like, errr tomorrow coz it looks like it's gonna be nice, and i've booked it's mot for tomorrow and see no issues, so that's one thing out of the way (i hope). The other bit is the tax, i'm not the registered keeper yet, nor have i sent sent the paper work off, will this stop me from getting tax? i have no issue paying the tax, plod have stopped me and fined me a good few times, last time they did i said i would never ride without tax as i don't want to give them fook all where poss ever again! Others must have been through this, I'm sure it's a simple one, just googling it is a tricky one, thanks! Smile

If you've got the green new owners slip from the V5 then yes you can get it taxed. You will also need the insurance adn MOT certificates.

good point about the insurance, i'll be insured just the paperwork prob won't be with me till mon/tues.... i was thinking of doing it online as that's what i normally do, but not having it registered to me puts a spanner in the works on that front (i think) , and if i do it over the counter i won't have the insurance cover note at hand, bugger! Laughing

It can take a few days before you can do it online, if it isn't already insured.

Why not insure it over the phone and get them to email you the insurance documents, print them off and then take them to the post office , alongside your new owners form & MOT (if needed).

Many insurers will do this for you.
