The pit bike forum I regular have a thread going about recorded top speeds etc.

Lad on there is claiming his Cagiva Mito does a true 130mph.

I replied saying that it does.

Then another guy, Who is actually 24 years old, Quotes me, and comes in with this reply.

well sir i beg to differ... i have just got rid of 2 aprilia rs 125... i had a yr 2000 and a 94 sintessi... err the 2000 forget it they r shit... BUT

the 94 did a legit 120mph standard... when i say standard i mean they come standard with a 34 m,m dellorto carb full power valve and 39 tooth rear sprocket... u should try 1 then you will know what rs 125's are capable of...

oh and by the way the cagiva being the fastest 125 in the world is bullshit...!!! they just have a smaller rear sprocket so rs pisses on it to 120 then the cagiva do 122ish the only reason his cagiva might do 130 is cos he has had it ported ect by stan stephens lol and prob an even smaller rear sprocket = very slow acceleration...

sry but i know cos i have just spent the last 3 yrs with rs 125 and they eat everything but scoobies!!! and bigger bikes but even then its hard to lose rs's TRUE

I feel embarrassed for him.

I like the way he seems so serious about it.

And the way he thinks a fireblade or hayabusa will have trouble getting rid of an rs125.

I don't think it will need to change into second... a blade or busa will get rid of it no matter what gear Laughing

I didn't say you had to hump him - although if you have a fetish about deranged and misled individuals who am I to argue?

...or is there a touch of guilty concience and secret desire popping out there Mr Binge? Wink

Not long after I'd joined this forum there was a huge five or ten page thread simply called "My cagiva mito does 130mph".

Basically we just ended up ripping the piss out of this guy and he kept biting back. I think it ended with me claiming my 955cc Triumph could do 955 miles an hour. Cos it says so on the side.

I suspect that being it is a common claim for dumbass mito riders, the Mito must have a wildly inaccurate speedometer.

A Mito is a 16 year olds wet dream.

A Mito is a 17 year olds dream bike. The few who's parents do buy them a Mito, Instantly claim 120mph+ figures.

SURELY at 24 years old. You'd understand a 125cc Sewing machine engine isnt capable of 120mph? Laughing

My 60bhp NC29 only just managed that.

It's not the speed claims that get me, Its the fact the fella is 3 years older than me, And reading his post makes me feel like I'm talking to 18aprilla.

Seems to be a latent thing within the more naieve of the biking community. Just the other day we saw a quote from a middle aged hayabusa rider who had been jailed claiming his bike was capable of '220mph as standard'.

Unfortunately they exist everywhere. Same as the old guy in my local who thinks my bike isnt 'as fast as my car' when he owns a 6 year old subaru. No explanation is enough for these people Wink

Just tell him my 4 stroke Hyosung GT 125 did 565 mph when it was being transported on a pallet on a cargo plane from Korea.

Want to rip a bit more out of him? The Sintesi was a 1988-1990 bike, and they came with 28mm carbs (except for a few 1990 bikes called AF1 Sport which came with the 34mm carb). And in the PB road test managed 98mph.

Same speedo as my early RS125 and they do read hideously high. Had my RS125 round to an indicated 185kmh, but reality is I doubt is was much over 100mph, if that.

All the best

Keith

Anyone that ends their post TRUE is obviously full of wank.

He sounds like a teenager; it reminds me of the infamous corsa driver who thought folding down his rear seats made his car go faster who then turned out to be in his mid twenties and a police officer Shocked

(or was that all bollocks?) Thinking

Oh Dont! We were doing 1/4 mile runs a few years back in our cars, And my mate Matt took all his interior out and stuck it in the boot, Thinking it was a weight reduction mod. Confused

Fair enough taking it out, but sticking it in the boot? Shocked

And yes, how the hell does Keith know everything there is to know about every bike that has ever been built? Laughing Actually having said that, whilst your about (if you still are), any ideas what's causing my CBR's engine to vibrate so much when it seems to otherwise run fine? It's not the mounts and it's not exhaust related Confused

I don't, but I do have an Aprilia AF1 Sintesi in the garage (along with an early RS125, AF1 Futura and a couple of early model AF1s).

All the best
