First experience on a big bike..

So earlier I went on the back of a Suzuki GSXR600 and fuck did it try, it scared the shit out of me but I loved life at the same time haha.

I dont really remember my first experience because I was probably about 4 or 5 years old. My Dad had a CBR600.

Dont actually remember doing it either, But I've heard the story's and still get ripped for it to this day from my rents.


But my Dad got me kitted up, Little jacket, Lid, Gloves, Jeans and boots. Told me to go get on the back of his CBR.

I was young, And the bike had a grab rail.


And yes, I climbed on facing backwards, And held onto the fucking grab rail!

I remember being on the back of a bandit 6 at 18 and being a bit scared. I was holding a very bendy luggage rack that was bending while my inexperienced mate was wheelying because he wasnt used to the weight on the back.

Yep, 2 years ago, got taken out on the back of an R6 for about 5 miles down a nice country road. Only had my 50 at the time, absolutly loved it the sound compared to my 2 stroke 50 was amazing.

2 years later, I now own that R6, and doubt I will sell it.

lol i remember going on a 33bhp and thinking it was fast as fuck and then onto full power and thinking it was absolutely mental and wondering how it was legal I also remember being taken pillion on a hornet and getting off shaking ahahahah

I remember when i first test rode the zxr. I was gutted because from the way it was pulling i thought was in 2nd and when i went to change up a gear it wouldn't. Thinking the box was knackered i turned around in a side street to go back which is when i noticed i was actually in 6th.

Then i got it into the real 2nd gear and i opened it up. Omg i couldn't believe bikes that fast could be legal. I was scared to let it go over 7000 rpm for the first couple of days because i thought the front would come up. Hard to imagine now as it feels quite tame and a bit slow.

I went straight from a 125 to a 500.

No training or nothing (not DAS), what a difference.

The acceleration was unbelievable , everything was a blur at first, I just couldn't believe the speed.

My first big bike was on my das evaluation, a cb500.

I remember pulling up on my little sr125 and him throwing the keys across and saying off you go then, needless to say the first time i accelerated i gave it loads and was holding on for dear life.

I went practically straight to DAS from CBT (only one lesson after CBT on a 125) and didn't think much different about the 500s until we turned from a sideroad onto an NSL road... my instructor said 'come on then, let's go' so I did... man did I! It was at that moment that I was sure I wanted to carry on with lessons and pass my test ASAP!

I recall going on the back of my mates K2 GSXR 600, shorts, T Shirt and lid. I have never hugged a man that hard before or since.

I was screaming to get off after the first 70m, and screaming to stay on after 200m.

I remember looking at the speedo as it went 20, 45, 60, 75, 90, 98, 105, 112, being absolutely gobsmacked.

I knew I would have a bike after that.

My 1st experience on a "bike bike" was crazymotorbiker's RD350 LC YPVS bugger me it was ace just thought it was like a rocketship or something, but currently at my house i'm on the biggest bike (650) and me old man is on the smallest (400) so go figure lol.

My first experience of a 'big' bike was the GS500 on DAS.

It felt heavy and unwieldy at first whilst attempting slaloms etc., but much better than the 125 at CBT.

Power wise, it was quick off the mark but slower than my old tuned-up Octavia vRS above about 50mph.

Having ridden a Fireblade, that thing was incredibly sharp and responsive.

I was about 17 and went on the back of my friends 350LC.
Wow thats all i could say. Sat like a sack of spuds and was ridden around local A's & B's. Totally surprised by the strength of the powerband Oh and the noise..

If I couldn't remember I might have alzheimers as it was only 2 months ago. Felt insane compared to my 125 at first, but after a day it felt normal. Having said this it is restricted to 33bhp so is about as powerful as a democratically elected leader in a middle eastern country.
Good points though: After two years restriction, it will feel like a different bike so I won't want to sell it quite as soon.

I remember mine, was on the back of a 500, think it might have been a GS or something. Was at a party that I had turned up on my GPR at and he was there. Cue him taking me down a twisty back road at about 80-100mph at like 12 at night. I loved it!

That was nothing compared to when I went on the back of Jamie's FZ6 for the first time. I remember looking over his shoulder and seeing the speed and being like fuckkkkkkk!

The first time I had a go on the FZ6 was mind blowing! I remember slightly twisting it in 1st gear then thought fuck this and put it in second and wound it open. The only thing I remember clearly was everything just seemed to go mentally quick and I had to physically hold on after being used to the pull of a 50.

Can't wait to have my licence and the SV! Will be nice to be on the road again!

Remember going on my Dad's transalp in Morocco. My first time on a big bike in Africa on the wrong side of the road.

Omg it was amazing, the power was just there all the time and it seemed to never stop accelerating. Next time was on to my hornet, god it was weird and it felt like it pulled like a train. Found memories.

Couldnt believe how much accerlation it had then my mate pulled up next to an M5 , 70mph and pinned it I shat myself thought it was gonna spit me off the back .

I often ride up the nsl dual carriageway that I rode up on my DAS ER5 (day 2) and was told to "make progress." I remember thinking "I can't feel anything below my elbows" cos I was gripping so tight. Got up to 60 OK crept up to 70 shitting myself. These days I am hitting seventy in third and feeling like I am floating. Use makes master. Happy days.

After riding a few 125's and C90's around the fields.
Did my DAS on 125 then 400, passed then came home straight onto myZXR 750 I'd had waiting.

Took it onto a straight as I was too scared to hammer it around any corner and just nailed it.

The acceleration blew me away. And it's the tame version and had unbalanced carbs at the time.

I think I'd feel that all over again on a modern sports 600/1000 since the ZXR is the only bike I've ever owned.

Its funny how you get used to it though isn't it.

And after a while you think your bike is slow, even though you've done 160 on it and does around 60 in 3 ish seconds.
