It was a lovely afternoon, so went out for a ride Thumbs Up

Put my sat-nav on the bike and set off with no particular destination in mind ... 57 miles later and I have returned home ...

Depressingly my moving average for the journey was 28.7mph .... with a top speed of 68.2mph .... Shocked

These facts are even more depressing as I did about a 5 mile stint of motorway in that ride ...

I just had no desire to go fast and was enjoying a bimble in the countryside ...

I might go out and buy myself a pipe and slippers tomorrow Crying or Very sad

Anyone else reached that point where they no longer feel they need to be knob-out every ride?!!??

Yes, it's why my last bike was an Enfield Bullet.

Bollocks.

The Game represents the fundamental characteristics of any meme.

RULE: Whenever you think about this meme, you can tell everyone.

The Game is actually antimemetic, because it defines thinking about The Game as loss, and it also causes the loss of those you tell.

Successful memes usually provide some kind of reward for telling other people, this can be as simple as them being interested in what you are saying. Some memes use punishment as a tactic for replication:

The Religion Game.

RULE: Whenever you think about your religion, tell people about it and you will be given eternal happiness. If you do not tell people about it you risk eternal pain.

The rules for a truly memetic game, the Meme Game, would be something like:

RULE 1: You are playing the Meme Game.
RULE 2: Whenever you think about the Meme Game, you win.
RULE 3: Whenever you win you should tell everyone.

Goddamnit with this game crap.
I remember when 4chan memes were funny and kept to 4chan. Half the people who play the game now have no idea of the origins, and usually one would argue you don't need to understand origins to find it funny, but with all the old 4chan memes popping up nowadays (channel 4's big fat quiz of the year calling rickrolling "new" in 2008, despite it being largely unfunny since 2005) I no longer find any of it funny. That's right, it's ruined because other people know what I'm laughing at. I used to be a demented fat virgin wanking off to sick shit in my mum's basement. MY MUM NEVER HAD A BASEMENT but that's who I pretended to be. Now I have to admit that I am a functioning member of society, because pretending to be a fat virgin loser somehow became cool and funny online.
[/rant]

Apologies to those who don't know or care about 4chan and the other parts of the underweb, but some things just shouldn't become mainstream.

Back on topic, I like to take silly rides some days but on really, really nice days I take it easy. Next time I might even take a packed lunch and eat by the river, take some photographs and generally be an old man.

So you have a girl's bike and ride like a fanny? Nothing to be ashamed of.

I saw your vid on SV650 ("SV650 on a lovely British winter ride!"). It was very fast and smooth. You are a very fast rider Smile.

Im just 18, but unfortunately have an xj600s.

I love thrashing it as much as you can thrash such a silly bike but i have alot of fun just cruising about at 55-60mph in top gear on country lanes, its nice and gentle and feels very controlled, you can take in the scenery in quite alot of comfort at just 4000revs.

I rarely speed, i just dont need to to find enjoyment in riding.

That and the fact i need a new fornt tyre Embarassed

I have more often than not been going straight past the zxr and going for the 125 just because i enjoy the more sedate speed of a cruise through the country lanes into work. I may be getting old Sad

If i pick the zxr however i do still tend to ride it like my hairs on fire Smile

Think my next bike is going to be a big slow burbling cruiser.
