Hi peeps new poster here

Put a deposit down on a 2008 RSVR today, my first litre bike and my first twin!, my previous bikes include rs50, rs125, zx6r and cbr600rr ive also got a wr426 supermoto as well, test ride a tuono the other day, loved the v twin power delivery and it went from there, glad i went for the faired option though.

Just a few questions about the RSVR really, the one ive put a deposit on is a 2008 with 360 miles, just wondered what the service intervals are?, whens the 1st service due and how much does it cost?

It comes with an Aprilia warranty, how long does this last?

and anything else i should look out for, its up for £5995 is this cheap for an RSVR? Ohlins, Brembos etc included.

Cheers

Nick

RSV4 soon, hence regular RSV Millies are utterly silly money at the mo, utter bargains abound.

The books will cover all the service details, The V60 Rotax aprilias tend to specify a big service not long after buying it from new, it'd probably be wise to ensure that that's been done, and if not, get the dealer to do it for you before you collect Thumbs Up

If you haven't already, get on www.apriliaforum.com. It's probably the best resource going for these bikes.

Rang 2 aprilia dealers today, Maxmoto and Dave Berkshire and was told aprilia have recently changed the servicing details and that valve clearances dont need doing with the first 600 mile service, i also found out that the first service has to be done by aprilia to keep the warranty and the place i am buying the bike from is a honda dealer, i also rang them and they told me that they would get the first service done at an aprilia dealer local to them and get the book stamped up for me so either way im happy Very Happy

I'm fairly sure that the Block Exemption legislation bought in a few years ago means that a manufacturer HAS to honour the warranty whether it is serviced by a main agent or an independant garage, provided that genuine parts are used. That is certainly the case for cars, so I presume it's the same for motorcycles.

First service will be free anyway wont it? Its usual to just pay for the parts, which should be the same at any dealer.

My Dad's had his bike for 4 years now. GSX1400. Done less than 1000 miles. It's there purely for bragging rights. Completely standard. Talk to him about it, and he'll tell you everything that *can* be done with it, full system, turbo, bore it out produce more horse power than a GSXR1000 etc. Laughing

Your post has confused me. Warranty work is different to services. Aprilia do charge for the first service, including labour; this was not the case on my Suzuki that was just parts i.e oils and filter.

It may be different on the smaller bikes but definitely not on the RSV/Tuono.

I read it as "My warrenty is parts and labour for 2 years. The service will cost around £45 in parts, plus labour which will be done for free".

I maybe looking into it too much to find sense though. Thumbs Up
