Went out tonight to pick up a friend, put too much power down round a corner on a surface that was slippier than I thought and went into a ditch at about 50mph.
I knew I was going to crash as soon as it started fishtailing on the bend, went onto the other side of the road, went accross the grass for about 5m (I'd straightened out a little by this point so I was almost riding parralel with the ditch but not by enough) and then the next thing I know I'm in a ditch eating thorns and stingers.
Got up, crawled out of the ditch to find some really helpful lady who'd seen it and stopped. She must have been pretty relieved to watch me stumble out the hedges because it was a pretty nasty off.
Ambulance said I'd be ok to go home and rest, just bruises (I didn't even really want to ring them but the woman did it for me, and they had a car nearby). Right now the stinging nettle stings on my left wrist are bugging me more than my knee, which is a little brusied and swollen. It's probably going to hurt a lot tommorow though.
Pretty good considering I was wearing trainers and jeans. Note to self; short journeys do not mean trainers are cool (even though my feet are ok). Jeans look sweet though, by the looks of the mud stains I managed to land right on my kneecap.
Anyway, I'm laughing about it now. The financial implications havn't sunk in yet.
Pictures to come once it's recovered.
Edit: Police have been round. Totally unsympathetic "can we see your documents". Just renewed my insurance too so I didn't have any paperwork and it was coming up on their system as uninsured. Producer - they wanna see Licence, Insurance, Test Cert and Restriction certificate within 7 days.

i'd be taxing it now. Pray it all comes through and don't worry about the restriction certificate as you can quite plainly see how "legal" it is. Put the restrictors back in and tell the cops to do one.
Your are looking at being one very lucky man. ____________________ Past - CG125 ,KR1S, SV650s, Street Triple R - Current - Duke 390

Yeah the police can be very helpful at times. Seeing as though they dont manage to get people for anythng other than vehicular misdemenours they probably play the odds and follow these up looking to get an easy catch.
I remember last year when I came home to find the police in my living room breathalysing my dad. Turns out he had been hit by a bike from behind at a junction (who had then got up and legged it). Should maybe have been investing their time looking for the criminal and not persecuting the victim. No wonder noone has faith in them.
Anyway, that aside, Im glad to hear your ok mate. Hope everything works out ok for you ____________________ RS125 > CBR6 > SV650S > ZX636R > GSX1300RZ Hayabusa > 06 RSVR Mille > SV1000S > Street Triple 765 RS |

Bad news mate, but glad you're alright.
The producer is an inconvenience though and when you do get your insurance certificate, get your tax from the post office. They'll give you the March disc now anyway, so if your tax expired end of Feb, it's the disc you'd have been riding with when you crashed.
They might ask a few questions (not that they have any enforcement authority), but just tell them you were waiting for the ins cert and are happy to pay for the last week or so that you had no tax.

I binned a cbr250rr about a week ago going down a road where there was a strip of gravel. lost the front end and slid into a kerb at about 25mph...
I came out perfectly fine but again paramedics were called, the bike was/is a state.
Police then turned up, 2 guys in a car who seemed to find amusement in my accident.
I dont know why but then a copper on an yammy fj pulled up and quite literally told them to fuck off.
I was well chuffed with him No documents asked for or anything just wanted to ensure another motorcyclist was ok.
He even offered to come collect the bike for me when he was off duty.

At least you had a fairly soft landing and the bike looks pretty much unscathed. |

Do you think if it was restricted, you would still have crashed?
I'm not having a go (I don't even know how a restriction works with regards reducing power) but you reckon you crashed being a bit eager on the power, and It would be particularly unfortunate if you de-restricted a bike then it ended up making you crash |
