Hey all,
I'm an engineering student doing a computer analysis of my bike frame. I'm making good progress with all the exterior dimensions, unfortunately I can't cut it up to get the tube thicknesses. It is a specialized hard rock circa 1999-2000. Does anyone have any idea about tube thicknesses used in this or other similar bikes? I know they may be different for all the parts. How about which aluminum specialized was using at this time. thanks

Look around the bike often there are predrilled holes in the frame for certain things. You say Hard rock? , never heard of such a bike but look for holes already drilled in the frame some examples on different non hard rock bikes are:

GSXR750 or was it Kawak ZX7R have air intakes which go through holes in the frame , while older type bikes like my CBR have the airintakes above the frame.

Also on the side of the CBR600 and the 918 fireblade there is a hole of some kind specifically there to adjust something onthe carbs.

Additionally on the CBR600F frame the fairing lugs on the side where R&G bungs go are also removable so you can see into the frame's guts. What you can't see though is all the cross bracing inside.

A suggestion for you is to go to a few breakers and look at some Cat A or B (spares only and or must be crushed) bikes bikes with bent frames to look for are:
