Breakers in the York area? (or got a spare reg/rec)?*FIXED*

Just over seeing the gf and the VFR appears to have eaten its reg/rec.

Speedo went first, repeatedly pinging to zero and back, lights next (dark, otherwise I'd have switched them off) then it died altogether.

Might just be a broken wire causing a lack of battery charging but it is a VFR750 on its original reg/rec at 40k miles, this is probably something of a record.

I can pinch the one off the gfs GPz but I would prefer not to because that leaves her fitting it again after I post it back.

So, anyone know of a motorcycle breakers in this neck of the woods?

Doesn't matter what it's off, as long as it is 12V and has 6 wires I ought to be able to bodge it on. In fact, I'd rather NOT have another VFR one. So if anyone is nearby and has one lying around..

In a hitherto unheard of fit of convenience, I just found out there is an autojumble within easy cycling distance of the GFs house tomorrow morning.

Stinkwheel I asume you mean Rufford auto jumble, as there also Newark autojumble sunday morning too.

however, the reg/rec your looking for, is it a stock honda 1?
As I`m guessing it will be similar to other honda reg/recs, twin plug 3-yellow wires on 1, and 2/3 wire ....red,black, blue or white on the other. I have several ....7? (inc new) for the CB900f2. they are almost identical to superdream reg/recs in plug/connector configuration.

When I had a charging problem with the CB900 I went thru a phase of swopping them out to try to resolve the problem, however the fault wasn`t with the reg/rec it was with my stator/rotor which I had re-wound. so the 1`s Ive got should be ok

Well, fix now road-tested. I just rode 140 miles in the dark and it is all still working.

CBR6 reg/rec unit works fine on a VFR750. It also fits in the space under the side panel and the hole centres are in the right place to bolt it to the frame.

It's bodged on at the moment with crappy pre-insulated crimps. I'll redo these through the week and maybe sort out the frame attachment a bit more sympathetically with regard to vibration.

Cost to fix:
Second hand CBR600F Reg/rec, £5
Terminal set and crappy crimping tool, £2
TOTAL: £7
Price of new, genuine VFR reg/rec ex. Honda: £85

I've been meaning to go to the autojumble for the last 2 years, I always seem to be away or busy when it's on!!!!
