If I use gear oil

If i cleaned my chain every sat morn with parrafin then gave it a good going over with gear oil and wiped off all the excess and repeated this each saturday will this be enough to look after my chain i would be doing 110 miles a week , i dont mind each saturday but im shagged through the week, and the bike is garaged its a ybr125.

No need to clean it every week. Keep it lubed and it will be fine. Only give it a clean when it get really dirty.

Ought to be fine, I agree the cleaning is probably unecessary.

You may want to re-lube more frequently if it is particularly wet as the water tends to blast the oil off more quickly.

I generally do mine every 3-400 miles.

If you want to do that then just use a toothbrush and the gear oil to wash it. No need for the parafin.

Don't know what this obsession with cleaning chains just recently is.

I have never needed to clean a chain in over 20 years. They are consumable items and only need lubing when needed.

yep im with Fing dont clean em, use gear oil though as its cheap and sticky
