Has anyone done a course with them? https://www.haslamraceschool.com/ It looks quite good, do you think it would be worth doing?

Maybe but i'd do a couple of track days first. I can see the argument that it's good to have someone watching and advising where you are going wrong but ime you learn a hell of a lot by yourself on a track.

TBH, I have done over 9 trackdays and I have found I learnt something at every single one of them and really basic stuff too.

if you do this as your first one they will be telling you basics which you would of worked out for yourself without the extra cost and they will claim that they knocked your times by 3-5 seconds etc which is bull anyway as most peeps on new tracks do that anyway during there first visit with or without training.

if you want more to come from it, go when you feel that you are stuggling for direction on cutting more time from your laps.

I only stumbled across it this morning and thought it would help me learn to handle a bike better but I see where you guys are coming from. I guess something like a bike safe would be better.

One plus point is you get to use their bikes so if you bin it it's not all bad. But then iirc i read something about if you bin it your day is over.

Plus they are likely to treat you with kid gloves and progress very slowly, not so much for your safety but to preserve their bikes.

Track riding and road riding are two separate entities for the most part.

Just do a normal trackday first, then if you're struggling to go faster by yourself look at cali superbike school etc.

I've done a day there as a birthday pressie. To be fair i'd only been riding 2-3 months but i learnt a hell of a lot. Saying that, growing a pair of bollox on the road has been even more benefit so its 6 of one half a dozen of the other.

Yep i'm on a 125 and have a full licence, I've been riding the CBR about 6/7 months, I want to improve my riding. The way I looked at it is that if I did that course it would be on the 500 so it might also help me get used to a bigger bike but at some point I will be doing the bike safe as well as it's something I definitely want to do, this is more like an extra. More for fun I guess

Was a cracking half day

Expensive, but you didnt feel ripped off. I was starting to get sore and tired after the last session anyway. CBR600RR riding position + all the braking weight on my arms + being unfit


Worth doing if you have the money IMO

Like i said on the write up it was more geared towards the experience than learning to race, but they sorted out my position when cornering and where to look etc etc but only the basics

I suppose if its for fun, you have the cash, and wanna get used to a bigger bike, the Haslam school would be the way to go.

Someone might suggest hiring a bike and doing a trackday, but thats quite a lot of hassle.

When you finally buy a bigger bike, trackdays would be the way to go though.

I've done it and I would recommend it.

Okay its not exactly great value for money on the face of it, but it is a great experience and a good day. I'm sure that there aren't many people who walk away afterwards disappointed.

my girlfriends parents have brought me the 600rr course for christmas and im booked in for april (22nd i think) so i'll let you know what i think after that, i've done 2 track eve's at donny and a full day at mallory so i'm not new to the track but i'm not experianced either!
