shaking at 7k and above revs, is this normal? theres no rattling, but the whole bike vibrates a lot (bike is gs125) im guessing its normal cos its just the engine working hard, but it really makes my arse numb :d

My KH125 gets a vibe going at about 7K as well. No rattling, no wobbling, but can certainly feel the vibes through the seat and pegs... Interesting feeling till your butt feels like it has a severe case of being numbed out...

Depends I spose. Mine redlines at 9K, and whilst there is a power dip at 7.5K will keep pulling all the way to 9K. 125s are pretty much all low power high revving, so 7K should be fine, but obviously anything spinning that many times a minute is going to be a little vibing...

Welcome to the world of single cylinder engines!

Vibes are very normal, the cg redlines at 9k i think (not that mine had a rev counter Sad ) so its going to be similar if not the same, long journeys would leave me with dead arms and pretty much exhausted much of it from the vibration.. you can try a couple of things - take the seat off and check the condition of the rubbers, perhaps get some gel grips or similar... apart from that there is little you can do apart from get a bigger bike with more cylinders... wouldn't let it worry you tho, just try not to ride on roads where you have to have the throttle pinned everywhere you go, take the country windy route, stops you getting bored, you also are working the engine less harshly (but watch out for dem hills!) Razz

I now have a 500cc inverse twin engined water cooled bike, quieter and like a cruise liner in comparison and its 10 years older than my cg was!

well I've got a four stroke 125 and the redline starts at 10,000 rpm and goes to 12,000 and I've had it at 11,500 a few times accidently I dont normaly let the revs drop below 8,000 so I'd say 7k is safe Smile my mate used to own a cbr 250 r (mc19) and that redlined at 21,000 rpm sounded mental like an airraid siren Laughing

slightly off-topic but . . picture this - gorgeous summer's day, I can hear the dim overrun of a bike in the distance as it approahes a corner, the revs rise and fall as it negotiates the twists and turns, getting louder as it approaches. I stand still to appreciate the noise - whoever it is is really going for it; the revs are screaming and he doesn't seem to be showing it much mercy. I hear it round the last corner just out of my sight - and hear the high pitched wail as it uses up 1st and then 2nd, I stand back in trepidation of seeing the bike fly past with its rider tucked down; expecting some 750 to come hurtling past me like a banshee from hell doing the wrong side0f 70+mph - it finally bursts into view . . . doing about 45mph . . . it was a ZXR250 exploiting its 20k rev range . . .

Roo, my GS never goes below 6 / 6.5k revs on the way to work so 7k is fine. It shouldn't matter too much if you go into the "red Zone" briefly, just don't stay there! The GS has maximum power at 9500 revs anyhow.
