No claims confusion

I insured my TS from June '08 til June '09 with Ensign.

I insured my CB from Feb '09 til Feb '10 with the AA.

Assuming no claims are made, when will i have 2 years 'no claims bonus'?

I take it that's two single-bike policies?

If so you'll have a policy with 1 year NCB in Jun 2009 and another policy with 1 year NCB in Feb 2010

Yeah, 2 seperate policies.

So does that means you can't use both as 2-years NCB. You have to use each on seperate policies and not in conjunction with each other?

That's generally the case yes, although I think a few companies might let you put them together. They'll probably want you to add full years only, so one policy with 1 year 7 months and another with 1 year 8 months will only make 2 years NCB, not 3 (or 3.5)

You can't combine them, they have to be continuous.

You're still riding the TS then, having not cancelled that policy?

Well, on and off. It came in handy whilst my CB had fuel tank issues. But the policy is paid in full now so i dont see any reason why i should cancel it

If you weren't using the TS it would definitely be worth cancelling that policy, or downgrading it to fire & theft if keeping the bike.

I'm tpo. I paid in monthly installments which have now ended so i wont get anything back. Policy was only just over £200 anyway.

Fair enough, I was just getting at the fact that keeping the TS insured for the sake of the NCB would be pointless unless you were going to insure another second bike when it ran out, like G mentions. Surely you must be able to get some money back if you did cancel though?
