Insurance conusion!!

Hey i have been working my way up through CC in motorcycles 50-125-400 and now i want to sell my vfr 400 and get a 600 but insurance seems to be un atainabe if that is a word o-o. I was just like go for it get HP on a nice new CBR 600RR 09 plate but every quote i get is 2000 quid upwads third party only.. i am 19 and have got 0 no claims and the only claims i do have are because some idiot ran over my bike when it was parked.. i was just wondering if insurance is cheaper on maybye older bikes like a 1999 gsx-r600 to a 09 plate gsxr? or any advice on getting insurance down?

Buy a lower insurance group bike ?

IIRC all the new 600s appear to be group 16/17 , while CBR600F ZX6R J1/J2/A1 appear to be 14/15

You're 19? Why not just stick to the vfr.

How long have you been riding?

You're surprised about 2k+ insurance and sports bike capable of 0-60 in roughly 3 seconds ate your age?

Older bikes will generally be cheaper to insure.

0 no claims but a claim because someone drove into your bike? Hang on... what?


Don't buy a brand new bike. Not at your age.

Third party insurance is cheaper for older bikes that are effectively the same - so TPFT or FC on a brand new bike when you're young and have a claim is going to be pretty silly, really.

I'd consider an early R6 if you want the sporty feel and see how much TPO quotes are for that.

an older bike is the only way to go if you cant afford/refuse to pay massive premiums.

I wouldn't buy a brand new bike, there are 100's of used ones that are thousands of pounds cheaper and in pretty much mint condition havind done a couple of thousand dry miles a year.
