Hey,
Ive been riding a 1988 GSXR400 for about a year now and decided its time to bring it up to date!
Going to be respraying all the panels, calipers forks and rearsets.
Installed a new speedo, and adding new indi's and a smaller numberplate.

Then giving it a right good clean.

Engines happy as anything and has recently been serviced by myself!

As and when money allows, the forks and rear shock will be refurbished/replaced!

Anyway, pics!

Bike as it started;

Its not to bad tbh, it is a little bright but there's no missing it in the dark!

Also with it being so bright, it doesn't disappear when the sun shines on it, like some digi tachos!

Done some more work today!

Stripped the bike even further back to start cleaning and re-spraying parts!
Trimmed number plat down a little to fit proportions of the bike and stripped all the paint of the tank & cleaned it ready for primer.

Will get some pictures up soon.

Also will hopefully have all the panels wet&dryed tonight ready for some primering tomorrow. Smile

Depending on how much i get done i may start the primer tonight!

IIRC the tachos on these shape GSXR400s start at 3000rpm.

Nice project always liked that shape GSXR. Thumbs Up

those clocks arent GSXR clocks, they're koso RX1N clocks.

my GK71B started from 0 like most tachos do. i cant see them making it start at 3000 just for the GK73A (i think?) model, as the GK76A also starts at 0.

The original rev counter definitely doesn't start at 0! That may be why i was having problems with it but wired it up a different way so everythings doing well. Got to add in the temp sensor though.

I've got some plastic filler primer for some of the deep nicks in the plastic, and then got a can of plastic primer to do one thin coat. Then normal primer after that as they're bigger cans so were cheaper Very Happy
