ive heard that you can youse redex in 4-strokes for de-cokeing by sprraying it down the plughole and leaving it for a while

i was just wandering if you could use this method on 2-strokes to decoke the powervalve and cylinder head

i know its safe to use redex in a 2stroke engine i was just wanderring if it would work well for decokeing it

You can de-coke an engine by firing a very fine mist of water spray into the inlet whilst riding. It would take a while though.

Shouldn't need de-coking if it's ridden properly.

powervalves important for power (clues in the name) and on a 125 where there isnt much power avaliable i want to keep as much of it as i can

On most of them if the valve is opening then you are going to gain nothing from taking it out and cleaning it.

For example on an RS125 it just lifts up. The only way a build up of rubbish would affect power would be if it built up on the end. Little will build up there, and the build up on the roof of the exhaust port would have much the same effect and wouldn't be affected by cleaning the valve. With the RS the normal issue is that the valve gets all covered in cack so it starts to stick. And only when it sticks will you loose power. Most of the time they seem to stick open so it is just low down power you loose. This might happen in a thousand miles of going slowly, but if you are doing that then you aren't using the power available when the valve opens. If it is being ridden reasonably hard then the valve is unlikely to stick.

All the best

Keith

Redex - another halfords special.

just use good old elbow grease if you need to de-coke.

ive never really needed to on any of my bikes as i looked after them, maybe a little too much... Rolling Eyes kinda part of the reason i stayed single for 3 years....

anyways.

Redex...... Thumbs Down
