How long do peoples tyres last?
My rear has done 3200miles. Doesnt sound a lot to me, but i'm thinking it might be a good idea to change it before the track day.

Depends, my R6 tyres are fooked after 3700 miles but I'm still riding on them Embarassed

My ZXR400 had 010's on it for over 8000 miles and I was doing knee down on it up until the day I sold it. Laughing Slippery as hell and not a good idea but I wouldn't pay out for them as I knew I was selling the bike.

Just look at the condition of the tyre/tread left etc and make your mind up then really.

I'm probably a totally different riding style but my front was good for 12,000miles and the rear did about 8,000 before it inherited a hole in the wall!

It's time to change the tyres when:

1/ The tyre reaches the 1mm limit across 75% of the tyre.

2/ The tyres are not doing their job anymore (no grip).

3 / When they have cracks in the side wall.

4/ If you have a nail in it or it's flat due to a deep cut / puncher.

Try using the edges Wink

I'm a tight git, so I tend to keep using the rears until they start spinning up easily in damp conditions. On a 400 that's similar to a slick Embarassed. The front I replace when the feedback starts getting very vague through corners.

I wouldn't recommend it though, you need 1mm of tread across a continuous band of 2/3 around the tyre. If you haven't, in the event of an accident you might have problems with the insurance company refusing to pay out.
