I'm sure someone has asked before but I couldn't find it. After a ride my tyres turn a bit blueish on the edges and the walls, anything to worry about?

No, it's just some oils in the tyre coming out. It's just where the tyre has slightly overheated through harder riding than it was designed for.

I've done both sides of ContiMotions on the CBR by going across Milton Keynes and riding at about half pace, but then again they are truely shite touring tyres.

The tyres must be sh*t then because this happens after a 15min commute, about 40mph max Confused The rear tyre is a Pirelli MT?? and the front is some IRZ weird make tyre. These are what came with the bike by the way.

This is the cbr125 right?

What size are the tyres fitted, just out of curiosity? The oem tyres are really crap.

Stick on some Bridgeston BT-39SS 's. Had a pair on mine before I sold it, and they were ace! Google recommends them for 50cc ~ 125cc bikes, if your racing them Shocked

Either way, they were very good tyres, could get silly lean angles (atleast for a bike with tyres that narrow!) without any squirming or other nastiness. The oem tyres were horrible, would just start to squirm and slide without any real warning. Not sure about how many miles you'd get from them though!

Yep the CBR125, I'm stuck with it for a while now so i'm sorting it out bit by bit.

As for the tyres i'll report back tomorrow with the make and sizes as I can't see anything now it's too dark Laughing

Hehe, know that one... Start a job only to find it's bloody dark before I'm finished and I'm scrabbling around in the dark with a pathetic torch and not enough hand's.

If the tyres arn't the standard sizes, it'll mess up the handling. I always found the suspension really really soft (which made it very comfy), but otherwise the handling is pretty good, even with the notoriously narrow tyres. I think standard sizes are 80/90 front, and 100/80 rear. That's the reason i used BT39SS 's. They're the only tyres i could find in that size!

blueing of the tyres is often a sign that it is under-inflated, extra movement in the carcass results in extra heat being generated and thus overheating.

alternatively, you are a riding god Laughing

I doubt it would be under inflation as I check the pressures every week.

Here they are anyway:
Front - IRC 80/90/17
Rear - Pirelli MT75 100/80/17

Tyres also often go blue if sat unused for a while, could be down to the lack of riding not removing the oils that are naturally released from the tyre. Or I could be talking bollox Very Happy

Nothing at all wrong with mt75's
I rode on them for a whole year with no issues with grip in wet/cold anything...

Their not bad them mt75's, vur as someone has already said, Bridgestone BT39ss are an excelent tyre for the little CBR 125.
Michelin Pilot Sporty are another good choice for the cbr 125, however they go up a size to 110/80/17 on the rear. Good tyres tho i had them on mine and they inspired confidence.

I think its slightly less to do with hard riding and more to do with leaving it standing for a while.

MY RSV did it after being left for a month (Rennsport Tires)

My TLR did it after comming off the truck from Cartegena (supercorsa Pros)

seems more common on track tires than road ones i find.

So do Pirelli, Michelin, Continental, Dunlop, Maxxis and Kenda.

What's your point?
