Just had my first theft attempt. Heard them messing in the garden, they did not even move the bike enough to set the alarm off. Sad Wish they had, it’s a good rape alarm. Thumbs Up

Just thinking, Should i report it?

If you got a good look at them, then you may be able to give the police an idea who they are looking for.
Did they give up or something, had a look at thought not to nick it ??

I would let local freinds and general people that there are some pricks floating round the area.

Yep. Can't guarantee a response, but it's helpful to have it on record: good to refer to in any future dealings with the police.

Yes, Report every attempt, they will be back. maybe in the next few hours or days but they will be back. Move the bike if you can and add a few more chains etc to it if you can.

Ok thanks. ill report it.

It was 4 youths in hats and jacets, it was dark so duno more. but my neighbour says he saw some kids looking in on another day, i'll have a word with him

They came in and tried to lift it out I think, due to the D lock. If they had actually moved it any further the alarm would have gone off. I have moved it in the conservatory now and set the alarm again. I have to at least sort out my back gate which has no lock.

Yea I think ill get something to lock it to also. I.m just glad she was not damaged.

One of the best alarm systems I have seen was a device that used blank shotgun cartridges linked by a trip wire to whatever you want to protect, Twisted Evil Sid Smiths of Sheffield used to stock them, I think they were around £20 with about 5 cartridges Smile

Not that good if it didn't go off though, cant even move my bike off the stand without it going off, yet leave it outside on a gusty day and not a peep out of it.

They did not fully remove the cover. Wink

A stand set up is a good idea though. That was up

Used to have one of those years ago...

Set it up near the bike with the tripwire either through the front wheel (incase they move the bike) or attatch it to something they need to move out of the way to get to the bike.

Plus, the bang will probably set off the bike's shock sensor anyway.. Smile

Get yourself a ground anchor and bolt through onto your patio - then chain to that. If you're leaving the bike on grass, concrete an anchor in and then turf over again.

Fit yourself a security light also.

If you don't have a ground anchor, use something solid, bulky and unwieldy, and chain the bike to that.

Such things as a frame from an old folding bed settee, or a knackered pushbike.

With that crap chained to a bike's frame, I'd like to see anyone push it away without serious hassle/noise/scraped shins.

Don't trust drainpipes etc though. Thumbs Down
