Who is a fan of this epic?

I am playing it again having never actually finished all 3 discs of this enormous if sometimes infuriatingly tedious Japanese behemoth of a game.

Got to get good at breeding chocobos. Deffo worth spending the time breeding a gold one for the knights of the round attack.

My top tip is to spend some time learning the Beta attack off the Midgar Zolem early in the game. You can learn it then flee before your entire party is wiped out. A much more powerfull attack that you have any right to be able to do at that stage of the game.

Fantastic Game, I'm not even going to try working out how long I played it for.
I felt such a sense of achievement when I finally completed it.

I found with the Chocobos that when I started trying to breed them early on in the game, I would never get the right outcome. But when I tried about 15 hours later (with the same nuts and combos) I got the right result every time, not sure if there is some pre-requisite to doing it or not.

How far through it are you?

Bloody Yuffi!

7,8 and 9 the epic three.

I have save files over 300hrs on each, they just don't make 'em like they used to. Either that or I've just grown up!

Hold on was this the one where sephroth or somebody attacks you by summoning a comet into the sun , which destroys mercury and venus and causes the sun's fire to appear behind you causing incredible damage?.

I found that attack incredibly frustrating after watching the sequence twice I got annoyed and put it away.

I really loved it back in 97 when it came out, It was about the third game I got for the playstation. Was there some rumour that a remake for PS3 was on the cards?

However, I didn't really 'get' RPG's at all back then, particularly not JRPG's so I never got much beyond getting to the world map, and that itself took ages. I remember ignoring the mateira briefings pretty much completely when it was all being explained. Probably explains the lack of success.

I still have the game upstairs. But no playstation.

Epic game, atmosphere was something else, loved the time I played it for but I just sucked so much at it. I would probably be better now having played a few RPG's since, but it may ruin the good memories, and I doubt I could tolerate the lack of speech and the random encounters did get pretty damn annoying if you were actually trying to get somewhere quick or get something done.

I still regularly listen to the soundtrack on youtube though, which is fantastic in its own right. I also have advent children on DVD but not watched it yet.

What killed long games were casual gamers.

The ones that only play 30mins here and there.

Ever since they complained games have got shorter.

I hate spending 60 bucks on a game that last 8 hours.

Bah, stop focusing on pretty looking graphics and get back into gameplay.

Definately up there with the best games I've ever played. I started it up again about a year or so ago as there was nothing on the shelves I wanted to fork out money for.....but then I found COD4. The PS went back in the cupboard to collect dust.

I loved RPG's but I just can't find the time anymore to actually see it through, while still having a life that is. So a quick blast on an FPS is usually the answer.

Definitely the best game I've ever played.

Looking forward to FFXIII. But was totally disappointed with FFXII. It was very pretty, but the story was so poor I barely noticed it.

Favourite game of all time Sad I want to get my memory wiped so playing it again would be new.

Played through it about 7 or 8 times, last time was about 6 years ago, done everything, beat Ruby and Emerald weapons, got KoTR materia etc. Only thing I've never done was got Vincent's limit breaks. Don't have PS now. Though probably still got my Final Fantasy discs. The PS3 rumour was lies btw, they made a tech demo of the opening sequence to demonstrate the PS3s graphics Sad so I bought a 360 instead.

I had it for the PC, but it's a bugger to get to run now as it was an old dos based thing, and XP seems to hate it. That and I can't remember where the disks are now. I may look at getting the PS1 version, cos that will play on the PS3!

I think Bethesda Softworks tried to allow for us all with Fallout 3, there is a shitty premature ending for the helmets who complain about a game being too long, and there is leaving that mission untouched and gleaning over 60hrs in the world doing other things for us absorbed players to enjoy.

If you haven't played Fallout 3 yet, I highly reccommend it.

Played it? It's taking over my life! I'm playing nothing else!!!!

Can't agree with what you said more! Just a bugger the PS3 isn't getting the add ons.

Fallout 3 was a hidden gem for me, went into it expecting nothing and found one of my favourite games! Such a rewarding game.

Loved it, not sure but I think that was the one I got into the brotherl and something happened behind closed doors Shifty Silence

More recently got Blue Dragon, a similar idea but doesnt reach the epicness of FF.

Fable II was also good for the 5 days I played it when stuck in a Hotel with no internet, but was put away again once I had online access to COD again Laughing

You need to download a patch to get the chocobo racing and sledge run to work, otherwise it hangs up. Google for it, it wasn't a big patch.

Have you lot finished Fallout 3 yet?

I waited a while before I got it, but there are a bunch of people on my friend list playing it, and no one else has managed to complete it yet.

By complete it I mean platinum on the PS3, so all main and sub missions.

add TribalTiger if you want to compare.

I was up at 5.30 this morning trying to save Reilly's Rangers. bunch of wimps, all of em!

Got fallout last week and I'm between 20-30hrs into it. At first I told myself I'll be good but it didn't take long after getting to megaton that I turned into a theiving shit that kills everyone. Got to Rivet City and thought I had a second chance to be good up until someone caught me breaking into their foot locker. One thing led to another and they were all dead, oops. Doh!

There's nothing more fun than launching mini nukes off the top of a tower at passers by.

I've still not found the fat boy.

I've stacks of mini nukes, and nothing to shoot them with!

Anyone build their own weapons yet?

This thread is being Hi-Jacked, but it's my fault so it's ok.

The Fat Man can be found at GNR radio by a Brotherhood corpse near the first Super Mutant Behemoth. (The weapon is awesome for Behemoths and can be equipped for use on the afore mentioned behemoth.).
