+1 to everything... You'll only have to go into the councils parking office and pay a fine. The only peperwork they're interested in is the ticket and the cash . And get some insurance! Evil or Very Mad

Seriously guys, im not proud. Insurance is being sorted asap just cash at the minute is not around. I had to go help a friend and motorbike bay even has a fucking ticket thing now! but that had a bike in.

Even saw the ticket man, he said oi, you two have tickets.

Get some insurance. Bike insurance is not expensive unless you're young and riding a sportsbike, so lack of cash to pay for it is just stupidity on your part.

Incidentally, you can still be done for no insurance when in a car park as it's a place where the public would normally have access.

Can't do that in a lot of car parks now as you have to input your registration and it gets printed on the ticket.

i Know quite a few of the parking wardens around my town and they also check for tax when writing a ticket out if its council parking area (their machine asks for it)

I hope all the kitten-killing objectors never go over the posted speed limit, have every single little change to their vehicle registered with the insurance companies and have, of course, never themselves done anything illegal at all!

To clarify, round here some people are very selective on which government incentives they lap up and which they choose to conveniently ignore. Smile

Much as I agree with the sentiment fella, 35 in a 30 isn't the same as having no insurance - hence the differential between 3 points for SP30 and 6 points minimum for the IN10.

Even non disclosure of modifications isn't as bad, as under the RTA the Insurer will still be liable for third party property damage/injury. In this instance there is no insurance cover, so it will be down to a) the last insurer of the bike if traceable, or b) the MIB fund which is where a proportion of the premiums of those who have paid for insurance goes towards - why should we have to foot the bill for those that ride without it?

But anyway - the guy's been lambasted enough over it - and no matter how stupid it is, it's time to move on I guess

I don't have a problem with people that have no insurance hitting me over someone that does, providing any losses are quickly compensated.
I would much prefer that were someone to hit me, that they had no insurance but admitted liability and paid out, in comparison to trying to blame it on me, or driving off in the hope they might save their precious no claims bonus.

Yet a lot of people are much happier to have the roads full of the latter type of people.

Bits of paper do not a good person make.

MIB - what about a situation where someone has paid insurance premiums for the last 20 years claim free, but hasn't got insurance now?
People who make claims from insurance are the ones you are paying for, regardless of whether or not they have insurance to cover it in the first place.

So you're driving along in your £10k motor and someone twats into the back of you and completely folds the rear end in - turns out they haven't got any insurance, likelihood is because they couldn't afford it - is this going to be dealt with in a speedy manner then? At this point you're then a) down a £10k motor and b) seriously inconvenienced by having to recover the car, store it/scrap it and having to buy another car to run around in as you won't have a courtesy car provided to you - unless of course you claim off your own policy which means a) your premiums go up and b) your NCD gets stuffed.

No - I don't want people on the road that have insurance but are lying bastards; that doesn't make any sense - who does? I just ask that whilst I'm paying out for my insurance to ensure that I cover your losses that could occur as a result of my negligence, that you extend the same courtesy back to me.

Your example about the MIB - all well and good, but what if you're driving 20 years without a single incident but then on day 1 of your 21st year you shunt into a minibus on the M25 and seriously injure 13 people? Does it make it acceptable that you don't have insurance because you've not claimed for the last 20 years on the insurance you did have? Can't see the logic to that personally.

Anyway - I think we'll probably just end up going round in circles on this one because you've your view, and I've got mine that clearly doesn't tie up with yours.

If they make an effort to get the money asap (most people, even these days, can acquire that sort of money if they really want/need to).
Basically, as before, it's a case of whether or not the other party behaves honourably.

Luckily, so far, I'm not nearly as precious about my vehicles as many are - I generally don't see them as some sort of status symbol that represents my dignity (or maybe I do Wink ).

I think this is a rather larger question about 'insurance' which I don't have the answers to.
Morally, what about if the driver in question did have insurance on the same model of car, but theirs was in the garage and had been given to them as a courtesy car. They were unaware their cover didn't cover them in this case and the garage didn't provide any.
They are paying insurance for exactly the 'risk' they are undertaking, yet still have to claim from the MIB.
Does that mean they are just as ('morally') bad as the 17 year old who bought a 2lt chavved up Astra and can't afford to insure it?
